marcus jones
duffy pulled from tomor nights fa cup game for scunthrope.....http://www.scunthorp...2522980,00.html Markduff, do you think that he could be pushed up in front of the two central defenders? A deep lying defensive midfielder perhaps? What is his passing like? Got a sweet strike on him but I have only seen that from the spot. Noddy
As far as I remember Shane only played midfield briefly when he was younger and for his gaelic club. His passing is good enough, but he is as Alan Knill would say a "proper centre half". Unbelievable in the air. WOULD you want him on the bench for everton these days?

Matt
i'd rather the lad got a full season of playing than getting a butt full of splinters with false hope of playing....
StevO
I hope he stays at Scunny to keep learning. Come back in the summer fighting!
Bailey
Like the others say, Shane is probably best staying on loan because rightly or wrongly he wouldn't get a look in here unless they all got crocked (including Neville & Hibbert). He looks like he is doing well though, and hopefully he can break through next season.

Zoo
I don't think that you can complain about a young lad that wants to play for the club. I'm sick and tired of seeing our players playing badly and not giving a shit so it makes a nice change that Shane has come out and said that he will do all that he can for the club. I woulden't mind sticking someone that has a good understanding of the Premier League in Shane's place on the cheap but I'd much rather see Shane there than spending millions on someone else, I think that with some experiance he could turn into something good. Hafnia
Was pleased to see him carry the ball and bring it out, really promising debut.
Romey 1878
I'd like nothing more than for Moyes to not spend anything on a defender, or loan one for that matter, and just say to Shane that the spot is his at least until Distin comes back. If Duffy puts in stellar performances then he should keep that spot over Distin even when he's fit.

MikeO
Moving this thread from Academy to Everton section....probably long overdue. It's like admitting your little boy (although not so little in this case) is all grown up . Long and successful career in Blue Shane ! Philinsuffolk
I have long looked forward to Duffy getting his chance in the first team. As someone who places emphasis on building a team from the back I put great store in having good quality and stability at CB - and I honestly think that Shane has a very bright future. I do hope he gets to play in the next couple of games and maybe at least 5 or 6 games before end of the season (at least). Hopefully he then becomes a regular from next season. With the likes of Gibson, Barkley, Coleman and Vellios too, the future is bright.
Louis
Here's a question, how come he doesn't count as a home grown player? Club Profile | Everton
Noddy
That could be a mistake. Could it be that he was signed at 16 from an amateur Irish club?
Louis
Aren't they all? I think it could be because he's under 21? When he turns 21 I imagine he'd have a little HG next to his name.
