MikeO
Is it just me or does it look like a cereal bowl? Edited November 7, 2007 by MikeO
Romey 1878
You're right but I'd be very surprised if it ever ends up looking like that with the fools we have in charge.
jamiemaher85
I would just be impressed if they actually get it done on time. It looks similar to the stadium that Brazil built for the world cup when they hosted it. But not made of wood, and a little but more swish. Louis
Is this for London? I remember reading in FourFourTwo that Spurs and West Ham would considering moving into it.. another free stadium for the opposition.. with a bit of luck someone like Brentford or Leyton Orient will be forced to have it
jamiemaher85
I had read about spurs consodering it but i think they are just going to expand their own now. Wouldn't be surprised if someone like west ham tried to move into it. Where in london is it going to be though?
jamiemaher85
oh wait, its in stratford. is that where craccer is based now? coe said that after the olympics it will be changed to a 25,000 seater stadium for a lower league team. So west ham or spurs could be in it by 2012
Louis
Just looked on the BBC apparently Leyton Orient are trying move in... reducing the capacity from 80,000 to 25,000 straight after the olympics.. what a waste of money. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ent/6129870.stm No wonder people have been annoyed by it. It's a shame Kirkby didn't try and get the olympics isnt it!
jamiemaher85
Orient moving into the stadium is harldy "building a lasting legacy" for the stadium is it? don't see why they can't make it a permanante 80,000 and have a prem team move into it. as you said, what a waste
Louis
West Ham were told they can't in February - http://www.london2012.com/en/news/press+ro...02-07-16-30.htm Spurs are apparently not interested Chelsea could move in but they'd have to change their name as that was part of the agreement when they played at Stamford Brdige. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Pitch_Owners Leaves it wide open for Leyton Orient
jamiemaher85
Do you know why westham are not allowed to move their and orient are? the link didn't work.
MikeO
For the life of me I can't imagine how you take an 80,000 seater £5/600,000,000 athletics stadium and reduce it to a 25,000 capacity football ground. What do you do, knock half of it down? Either that or the people at the back are gonna be half a mile from the pitch. Absurd. (Livingston in Scotland, when they were called Meadowbank, played in the stadium built for the Commonwealth games in Edinburgh and that was daft enough, three men and a dog in a huge arena) Edited November 7, 2007 by MikeO

Louis
Try this one Jamie... http://edition.cnn.com/2007/SPORT/11/07/ol...ref=mpstoryview Kev Livingstone saying they've found somewhere else... it makes you sick to the stomach doesnt it when they spend all that money and the likes of Sir Robin Wales saying West Ham can have it for free to become one of the top 20 clubs in the world.. Its a joke. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...21/ufnoly20.xml
CraccerC
i was reading the london paper before (free 1 u get near tube) and it said tht the cost has jumped from like 279 mil to like 479 already, and they couldn't afford to build the roof. the roof will only shelter two thirds of the spectators, but on the bright side it will save steel....apparently
MikeO
It's a big point apparently that they're using only 20% of the steel that Beijing using are for theirs, reducing the "carbon footprint" (Chicago are copying the idea for their 2016 bid), and 50,000 plus seats will be taken down afterwards. Will continue as an athletics arena and any football/rugby association will be announced next year. It'll be too small for the Premier league though (that Telegraph link's eighteen months old Louis). Louis
Yeah I just saw that that Mike.. google news had it as a top story :| Rumours are that they were rejected in Febn but now it could be given the green light for west ham (It's probably all tabloid crap from west ham journalists). Leyton Orient should have it if any football team will get it.
CraccerC
UP THE ORIENT
Josh Berno
West Ham couldnt fill a cardboard box! None of them clubs deserve it really apart from Chelsea and possibly Tottenham. Looks good shame about it being a breakfast bowl but ah well aslong as we have the Olympics! I agree with CraccerC UP THE ORIENT!!!!
