Pat Posted June 7, 2007 Report Share Posted June 7, 2007 Cahill gets all- clear - AAP Socceroos & Everton star Tim Cahill has confirmed he will be fit for Australia's Asian Cup opener against Oman on July 8. The 27-year-old Everton midfielder has not played since March when he fractured a metatarsal in his left foot against Sheffield United in the English Premier League. Cahill said he would be travelling with the Socceroos for their friendly against Singapore on June 30 but would not be taking the field until the Socceroos' Cup campaign kicks off in Bangkok a week later. "I've got another X-ray to go but they've given me the all clear for the Asian Cup," Cahill said. "It's feeling well. I only support Oz @ Cricket eh Mike Whilst I havent turned the full corner, living here has them as I suppsoe a 2nd team or team I like to see do well. Asian Cup - Australia are short Favourites. David Carney the kid we let go who was playing in the same youth team as Rooney has also been named, he's been looking good in the Asian Champions League and might not be too long until he's back in england although more than likely at championship standard. Blue 250 Posted June 8, 2007 Report Share Posted June 8, 2007 Cahill missed a large chunk of last season.This tournament,if he doesn't get injured could be just what he needs to make sure he's sharp and ready for the start of next season.He's had a good long rest so he shouldn't suffer burnout!
