MikeO
I don't understand how some can drink alcohol at that time of day. Anything before even six o clock in the evening, just isn't done for me. When I started working (in the late seventies) three/four/five pints in the pub at lunch was the norm....people looked at you strangely if you didn't join in. And a few of a Sunday lunch is one of life's great pleasures.....though I rarely get to partake because all decent pubs are driving distance away and I'm the only driver in the house . Zoo
Skyfall. I have to say that out of all the Bond's Daniel Craig is my favourite. I've been a big Bond fan since being little and he tops it for me in every way, the film itself is good too. It's up there for me as one of the best, better than Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, IMO its up there with GoldenEye and The Spy Who Loved Me. Sad to see Judi Dench replaced as 'M' however, it was inevitable really given her age but still I thought that she's been a really good part of the series so far. The change of 'Q' was strange at first too, I'm a really big fan of John Cleese so it was sad at first seeing him abscent from the film but I guess with these changes Bond is keeping itself alive. I just can't wait to see what happens next and to see if Bond makes it to 100.
Dalziel Kane
This is what (Jim) Greaves was doing when he was still an active player towards the end of his career. I read all about it. Was still an able player and had years left in him, but took to drinking at midday times and it was there that he decided on participating in the Mexico 1970 car rally. If not for being in a bar that day, he never would have done it, and it's his greatest sporting achievement of all things. But bottom line is, still don't see why people need to consume at such early times of the day. Wouldn't you rather be clear headed and focused for the afternoon, especially with employment involved. But that's all I have to say on the issue.

But you are often drinking 'til 4/5:00 am DK (according to your posts). After that you'll be anything but "clear headed and focused" for the morning or the afternoon. What's the difference? I just can't wait to see what happens next and to see if Bond makes it to 100. I've been a James Bond fan for over 35 years and saw my first theater release, The Man With The Golden Gun, and seen every other since then (but one) on opening. Dench could have stayed on, but they decided to kill her off, and now Mallory will take over. Thought she went too soon. Saw Skyfall three times Craig is good, but Dalton was the best one. Closest to the original character. You've probably seen Moonraker, but if not - avoid it, and just read the novel instead. James Bond goes into outer space. Fleming would have been spinning like a top

After that you'll be anything but "clear headed and focused" for the morning or the afternoon. What's the difference? Often - as in once a week - at best. And sometimes much less infrequent. Sunday night is liquor night as I don't work Mondays, and it's not 5am either. That was sunday last, as the Super Bowl had a late finish here and still had to get back. Usually 3 or 3.30 would be more accurate. I've usually sobered up by Monday afternoons after lots of diet Pepsi and water in any event. Zoo
Put spoilers in your post Dalziel, people might not have seen the movie yet. (If you don't know how to do it it's the same as making a quote, just type 'spoiler' and '/spoiler' instead). But yeah, I've seen them all. (I got the 50th Anniversary Blu-Ray Collection for my birthday actually) and I agree, Moonraker is one of the worst out there. It seemed to focus more on blowing a big budget than actually story-telling and being a good spy movie. Dalton for me was good and like you said was close to the original character I just find that Craig seems to take Bond to a new level, he lives and breathes the part and this comes off in the movies. I'm a big fan of his and IMO he's the best we've had.

Dalziel Kane
I couldn't even comprehend what were you were trying to say in the direct above. (Mike O quote not you Mr Paulo) I(mJust to add, with the James Bond issue, that Craig is a decent Bond - but he supports fucking Liverpool FC - but I miss the days of sensible Bond now. What I mean is, he gets shot off a moving train, falls 100 meters off a bridge, falls over a waterfall, under freezing water for five minutes in thin clothes - and still survives to save the day. It's just an insult to the integrity of the franchise and everything Connery did so well. and CGI nonsense involved now of all things. I miss the days of when Bond actually represented something you could believe in Edited February 8, 2013 by Dalziel Kane
Avinalaff
Just watched District 9. A very unusual film. I can't make my mind up as to whether it was crap or brilliant. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/district_9/

Avinalaff
had the exact same feeling It was very similar to the film Starship Troopers, regarding the 'footage' angle etc, so not totally unique. Not much of a story line either, but still, it had 'something'.
Dalziel Kane
For crying out loud, just switched on again, and The Shining is on again damn it. That's about six times this week now. Why do they keep putting on the same damn films all the time. This is fucking dull, put on another movie for a change. Couldn't help but get annoyed. Saw this on release though. It's good when you first see it, but after about the 132nd time, there's no surprises or shocks left. Lo and behold, commercials come on. That's it. Here's ..... the off switch. Fuck that
MikeO
Watched the opening scene of Django Unchained in the early hours (couldn't sleep due to man flu). Thought it was brilliant....love the opening music also (actually I hate it but I love the idea!)....probably be up half the night again tonight so I'll watch the rest. You have to have a thick skin in parts, what with the use of certain vocabulary and violence, but overall it was very good.
Dalziel Kane
Wheel of Fortune on Challenge I don't mind this program, but it's been off air for years now, and they're all repeats but still worth a watch, even if the prizes aren't up to much. Zoo
I remember watching that when I was kid. Didn't the presenter get done for rape or something? Maybe I've just made that up. I've found however that Challenge is a good channel to watch some of the classics; Crystal Maze, Takeshi's Castle, Wheel of Fortune to name but a few. Isn't Robot Wars on there too?
Dalziel Kane
John Leslie ? I think there was accusations, but nothing was proved and it all came to nothing from what I remember. Challenge is an awful piece of shit TV station incidentally. Constant commercials, endless repeats, annoying and irritating voiceovers, general incompetence etc. I like some of the shows they put on, but I've wanted to punch a hole through the screen more times than I can remember, watching. Robot Wars I think is on a different channel ? But it's something I would never watch. Would rather look directly into the sun.

Dalziel Kane
Die Hard is on Film Four at 9pm this night, but until then there's less than nothing on right now ? Tried a Queen (music) documentary and biggest hits but didn't like that, so ended up with a quiz show called 'Pointless' Not going to last long I don't think. Contestants are trying to name an Al Pacino movie that people won't be aware of, and Idiots answering titles such as Scarface, Devils Advocate and Heat. Will give this another few minutes
