And yet I wasn't surprised by the result after the final whistle. Team chemistry havn't been optimal, though quite a few good to great players; the golden generation Zoo was referring to. Lukaku missed quite a few in that game, by the way.

Wasn't there also some drama between Courtois and the Belgium coach and that's why he's not even on the roster?

Yes. Tesco .. sorry ... Tedesco claimed Courtois wasn't fully fit for Euro 2024 even though he played in the CL final. And on top of that there were, according to several sites, a dispute between them last year. So indeed some chemestry issues on the team.

But there's still games to play for them to improve things.

Shaqiri had a great goal in the 1st half of this Scotland-Switzerland match. Bended it into the top left corner of the goal. Easily one of the goals of the tournament.

He does it every tournament

While Southgate is manager this will always happen - get a lead and then drop off. It's his nature and it rubs off on the players.

The whole set up of the team is wrong. We're playing three right backs, one of them in midfield. We're playing Rice out of position to accommodate that RB in midfield. No LB because Gareth in his wisdom decided the only LB we needed in the whole squad was the fat and injury prone Luke Shaw. He refuses to play Foden in a way to get the best out of him and the only reason he's playing him at all is because he knows he'd look like a fucking idiot if he didn't.

Will never understand how a country can change around the lyrics of their national anthem based on which old fart is sitting on a purely symbolic throne.

All that said, best of luck to England today!

Will never understand why England use the British national anthem, annoys me almost as much as Southgate does.

That half was totally predictable, madness, how the manager can assemble such talented players and form them into a truly shite team is beyond me.

I'm sick of seeing your tame, neutered, zero-point-of-view opinion of Southgate. Let's hear how you really feel!!

That was garbage.

What's the point in any of them being on the pitch if they drop so far back they're behind the line they're supposed to lead or just pass the easy option which is 9 times out of 10 not forward and 8 times out of 10 not to our player.

Absolutely dismal and I don't particularly care.

Southgates face and demeanour absolutely outrages me.

He fuckin knows he's way out of his depth - he has the look of someone who knows he's got away with mediocrity level results with world class players.

aside his joke penalty he and his decisions have cost us 3 tournaments.... an absolute charlatan

Apparently Southgate described playing Alexander-Arnold in midfield as an "experiment".

I'd have thought experimenting should be over by the time a tournament starts, you should probably have a pretty firm idea of what your first XI is by then:rolleyes:

And also said it’s because we have no natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

Is he fucking insane? He’s picked two in the squad - Mainoo and Wharton.

The thing that winds me up the most about Alexander-Arnold’s inclusion in the squad is that Southgate didn’t deem him good enough for the squads during qualifying, but then he plonks him into the tournament squad and as a midfielder! Meanwhile, his inclusion is throwing off the balance of the team when he plays.

He should be on holiday with Grealish and an actual midfielder should have been picked.

Any way back on track England were once again piss poor, yes getting out the group stages is important but is that any real excuse for playing shit and looking so disjointed, and to believe that once we are through the group stages we will then transition into this attacking cohesive team is rubbish.                                        Southgate needs to grow some balls and quickly, drop Kane to slow and ineffective, bring Foden off the wing and make him number 10 if not then drop him, don’t let Arnold anywhere near the midfield give him the RB position and put Walker on as LB and drop Trippier he’s been a terrible LB, put Gordon on the wing he will offer the pace and directness we are looking for, and make a space for Palmer even if it means dropping Foden, Rice, or even Bellingham who went from hero to zero yesterday, Palmer would walk into any other team yet he can’t get in ours.

For me Wharton gets in ahead of Arnold a proper all round midfielder he brings into play all around him.
Arnold relies on the long ball defensively he’s terrible he just doesn’t fit.

Southgate has not got a clue. Wharton should deffo start - he speed of passing is what we need. Moves the ball quickly

It’s sad to see, so much talent in the squad but the set up nullifies so much of it.
