We should earn some of the money that we spent on him by getting him to do tricks outside Goodison on game day. My lad watches the two you tube lads, and their tricks are ridiculous. They can curl a free kick better than Beckham, and have better control than Maradonna. Not sure they can play football though. Then can curl a free kick better than Beckham and control a ball better than Maradona on the videos that you see, but what you don't see is that it probably took them more than a hundred tries to "nail it" (which you don't get in an actual game). If they were as good as Messi and Ronaldo, which their YouTube page suggests then they'd be on £500,000 a week at one of Europe's elite clubs. It's also well documented that Jeremy Lynch (one of the F2 that you allude to) has a disgraceful attitude and a massively inflated opinion of himself - famously said that he had better technique while he was in Arsenal's academy than any of the first team (who, for reference were the famous Invincibles). Oh I don't disagree at all mate. But I’ve saw so many skilful players in my time, that were useful on a football pitch. I k ow lads that can do 100+ kick ups with ease, but can’t get into the Pheasant team in brook side!

I was with you until you said when he was in the academy. He had an attitude as a kid (or teenager maybe)? Come on Zoo. I used to rob sweets and porno mags from the corner shop because the old dear in there wasn’t going to chase a few kids for the sake of a few quid. We all grow up mate. Ish. I’d be shocked if plenty of other talented kids in football academies didn’t act the same and have plenty of attitude and high opinions of themselves. Shouldn’t be holding that against them in their adult lives.

If it was a comment made as a kid then yeah, totally agree with you (apart from the growing up bit ...) StevO

duncanmckenzieismagic
Thought he had a very good game again yesterday, if James had played that though ball for DCL that he fluffed then people would have been drooling about it for weeks Bailey, London Blue, c1982 and 1 other
London Blue
I think he will do much better under Benitez, he will get more detailed instruction and coaching. It looks like there is more freedom for attacking players when in transition and counter attacking. Like Grey he has so much talent, lets hope they can show it this season. Popular Post StevO
Yesterday was the best I’ve seen of him in a blue shirt. He seemed more relaxed as the game went on, not being relaxed is often his biggest problem for me. And the ball of DCL was fantastic. I wanted Dom to score that as much for Iwobi as for himself and the team. Palfy, Btay, pete0 and 2 others

MC11
He is looking a different player under Benitez. Still underwhelming but slightly less. I can see him having a decent season.

markjazzbassist
I’ve been one of his biggest detractors make no mistake but he did well today, scored the goal and was doing a decent job playing further up. Let’s hope the Benitez effect continues with him. patto

c1982
Played the last 10 with an injury yesterday supposedly - that’s why Rafa took him over to our fans at the end.

Romey 1878
I want the Iwobi we're seeing this season to be the real Iwobi. He's been great starting and he's really made a difference when he's come on as well. I doubt he'll ever be worth what we paid for him but if he's able to contribute then I'm more than happy to have him in an Everton shirt. Dynamic and strong on the ball. Really want to see him as part of a midfield 3 with 1 sitter and someone alongside him more advanced. Shukes
Have to say. He has looked a totally different player this season. He was almost the butt of a joke signing for us, but these first few matches he has looked solid. The ball seems to stick to him, and he looks so strong. RuffRob
From being a bit part player, if he can keep up this good form he would feel like a new signing. Might be very much needed this season, with a gylfi like hole in the squad. London Blue

He has failed to impress so far, but it seems to be improving, assist for Doucoure, goal at Huddersfield, and a neat pass for a Gomes to assist Townsend in same game spring to mind immediately. If he can keep it up and add more I’ll be happy.
