Paddock
Rooney wont come here, not a chance in this window anyway.
gethinO
Now that he has passed Charlton's record I can definitely see how this one could happen. I think Rooney's reached the stage where he'd like to enjoy the last few years of his career and I think he's want to come here. I'd be up for it. Gone way past the stage where I was pissed off he left.
Aidan
Not too bothered about seeing him back here. Nothing against him, never held a grudge and am happy to see the lad have such a decorated career. I just don't belive he is the right option for us at this moment, or a player that would suit our style of play.

Bill
He would have to take a massive reduction in his wages. And then I,m not sure he would improve us much, I,d prefer a younger player.
Sibdane
I'm not sure I'd want Rooney here. He's past his peak and while I appreciate he loves Everton, I just don't think he's what we need. I doubt he'd want to come here just to be a mentor either. Shy_Talk
Besides the Jagielka to Sunderland rumours, theres chatter regards Gibson and McCarthy being targets for Moyes too.
Cornish Steve
Following the article in the Echo: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/wayne-rooney-told-go-back-12493495 I've been thinking and I think Rooney could be an option this window. I know I know but hear me out. 1) Has beaten Bobby Charltons record nothing left to stay at UTD for. 2) Mourhino sees him as a sub, and said he was prepared to let him go this window. 3) Rooney said in the past he wanted to finish at Everton. 4) We need a creative link man / second striker. If he comes and takes a massive wage drop I think he still has a couple of years left in him and would be a massive signing for us. If you were guaranteed 300,000 pounds a week for a few more years, would you give that up - especially if you know you'd struggle to get game time wherever you went? Shukes
Depend whether I'm a millionaire or not. If I thought I had enough money for myself, my children and their children... then I would want to play for my boyhood team.
StevO
Rooney has earned so much money now that it wouldn't even make a difference to his lifestyle if he never earned another penny. The chance to win something with Everton would mean more to him and his family than an extra few of million quid.
Cornish Steve
Generally, the more people have the more they want. For a 90% pay cut and one year commitment only, it would be a smart move. Otherwise, it would stop us from bringing in the players we really need. StevO
But it's not just a normal job. It's a very emotive job and one where glory means as much as the money to a fair few of them. Rooney being one of them. If he could retire as a cup winner loved by Everton fans again he would retire happier than if he stayed at United on £300k a week. markjazzbassist
honestly I would make a deal, cut rate fee and wages, and well take your kids into the academy no questions asked.

I dread to think how much more Rooney will declined by this time next year. Glory is all well and good but is it worth over 100,000,000 pounds? London Blue
If you were guaranteed 300,000 pounds a week for a few more years, would you give that up - especially if you know you'd struggle to get game time wherever you went? Depends if money is his main motivator. I think it would be his legacy, returning to his boyhood team may be more important.
Shukes
Don't think it's up to him. He said he wants to come back but our manager and staff need to want him and for the right deal. Really don't think it can happen.

I know, it's just it would need to be the right deal for the board to agree. With his wage etc I'm not sure it's viable. Would love it to be. aaron
Cant see Rooney leaving this window, still in with a chance to win the league cup and FA cup at United, as much as I would love to see him back here, I just don't think it will ever happen in his playing career, maybe a coach after retirement, but not a player. He'll go the US I think.

aaron
Considering Keane and Gerrard have left LA Galaxy, I'd say that's a good shout Ashley Cole is still at LA, so he'd have a mate there. aaron
Apparently end of 2019 season, and apparently he committed to seeing it through Rules him out of moving the US in the summer unless United grant him a free transfer. I'd only have him back here on a free tbh.
