c1982
I wake up to the Breaking News... ‘Everton confident of signing Eliaquim Mangala.’ Oh!
Bailey
As an actual defender I think he is alright. He just can't pass and has no first touch. Sounds perfect for Sam!
Romey 1878
I thought I couldn't be more down about being a blue and then I wake up to this. An extremely poor CB and I bet we're signing him as our LB. Walsh will have outdone himself with this one.
Matt
Oh joy... The fact that he's crap isn'tt really an issue for me; he could be Paulo Maldini and still look shite in our back 4 at the moment. But he's not a LB, thats the kicker
Bailey
Put it this way he is better than Kone of Sunderland so I have hopes that Allardyce can mould him into a no nonsense centre half who is quick and strong.

You're going to be very disappointed. We're bringing in the French Titus Bramble. Matt

Makis
So City would have saved gigarmous amount of money if they had bought Bramble instead?

duncanmckenzieismagic
Another player not good enough for a top 6 clubWe are a million miles away from being a top 6 side so loaning players to help bridge the gap is fine by me holystove
Paddock
Dreadful dreadful signing- he’s utter shite. I’m so fucking sick of Everton I really am.
Peter H
I don't have a problem with loaning him. He might make a difference or he might not but its low risk to take on a loan.

scouse
i don't think this is as bad as people are making out, he is an upgrade on our defense - left sided centre back and a more typical style defender is what we need - think is an upgrade on our aging defence - hopefully with a point to prove and on loan so if it doenst work like some of our expensive flops we are rid come summer. lets give him a chance and see how we go. Hafnia
May work... He clearly had something to warrant a 30m move a few years ago. He was at porto wasn't he? Loan deal... if he's shit then bin him.
Shukes
Some pace at the back and an upgrade from what we have.... still fans dont want him? For the rift fee or on a loan is fine with me. We need to sort out our defence so we can feel confident to attack. chicagoblue

Yeah we all know that's gone tits up - but how are we ever going to reach our stated ambition for the past 15 years if we keep buying players who have been rejected by the top 6 because they aren't good enough? It's lazy recruitment if you ask me, 'oh they've played for City/Arsenal/Man Utd, there must be a good player there.' Mentality wise, players like this are a risk because they see their shot at the big time gone, you're dealing with bruised egos on massive wages. Plus, I don't rate him at all. Hafnia
He's a stopper. Not a ball playing defender. A bit of a distin defender.

Hafnia
By all accounts he was very good for Valencia on loan. Had ronaldo in his pocket against Real Madrid. Definitely worth a go.
c1982
It worked for Allardyce with Kone at Sunderland and Sakho at Palace - both came in, in the January window and made an instant impact. Let’s hope this has the same effect.

mcirony
Can't be worse than what we have. If this doesn't work out I'd love to see Steve Walsh's 'Top Ten Everton Successes List'. Could be a long time in the waiting!
