Louis
He's supposedly coming to Liverpool tomorrow to start talks. English link: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-transfers-mccarthy-bertrand-bruno-2240925 The Mirror suggests it is a £11m fee (£30m minus £7m for Bertrand and £12m for McCartney) This Dutch link says he was not in the starting eleven for Feyenoord today, but they deny it is because of a possible transfer talks. http://www.ad.nl/ad/nl/5619/Feyenoord/article/detail/3502039/2013/09/01/Koeman-verkiest-Mathijsen-boven-Martins-Indi.dhtml http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2013/09/01/netherlands/eredivisie/feyenoord-rotterdam-nv/roda-jc/1478375/
Matt
havent the foggiest. SteveE or Holystone (if hes still alive), or any other of our Belgian/Dutch contingent got any insight?
BlueBlood81
Class player. More of a long term replacement for Distin than Baines though imo.
Avinalaff
He's a young lad who can play center or left. I ran with it yesterday but wasn't sure if there was really any truth behind it all.
Steve_E
I posted this about him in the Defoe thread: About Martins Indi. His favorite position is centre back, but he's left footed and can also play left back. He's big, strong and really fast. He could be a long-term successor for Sylvain Distin, they're quite similar in their talents on the defensive side of the ball. It would be a shame buying him to have him sat on the bench all year though. Maybe we could get a discount if we loan him back to them for the season so they don't need to hurry getting a replacement in?
Romey 1878
Sounds like a positive signing. And he's young so I'm all for it.
Steve_E
I guess it's possible that Baines is going too and that BMI will be competing with Oviedo for the left back spot this season, then move into Distin's spot next year? Otherwise I don't really see the sense in signing a 6th centre back (Distin, Jagielka, Stones, Heitinga, Alcaraz).
London Blue
Does this mean Heitinger is on his way out?

Otherwise I don't really see the sense in signing a 6th centre back (Distin, Jagielka, Stones, Heitinga, Alcaraz). If we're playing 3 cb's we'll need 6 on the basis of 2 players per position throughout the squad.

London Blue
Please the footballing Gods - please, I promise to build several small alters to you. On a more serious note if he does go for say £4 - £5 million hes on about 50k a week so we could then look to get Ince too
c1982
Heitinga will go for £2m - £3m tops on the basis of age/contract. Quinn31
thoward18
I think we have more immediate needs than ANOTHER defender. But what do I know... Quinn31
Matt
Heitinga will go for £2m - £3m tops on the basis of age/contract. 2m isnt too bad, since hes on 60k a week that would be 3m saved a year Quinn31
c1982
2m isnt too bad, since hes on 60k a week that would be 3m saved a year 1 year left on his contract which we'll have to settle with him due to him not requesting a move. Cornish Steve
The Mirror suggests it is a £11m fee (£30m minus £7m for Bertrand and £12m for McCartney) Paul? Now that would increase the average age of the team! Matt and Quinn31
Cornish Steve
Maybe Heitinga will be part of the deal. He wants to return to Holland, after all.
msloan78
That would be a pretty ideal situation.

Quinn31
Maybe Heitinga will be part of the deal. He wants to return to Holland, after all. Don't think Heitinga would want to play for Feyenoord. Aren't they Ajax's main rival? Or is that PSV?
Louis
Heitinga wants to go to Turkey, he believes he's too young to return to the Eredivisie.
Peter H
Turkish window is open until the 5th September so even if Heits is at Everton tomorrow he might still go. Edited September 2, 2013 by Peter H
