Romey 1878
We best be looking to bring a LB in then. No replacement needed for Gibson.
c1982
Garbutt is back and I think we may bring Galloway back. I actually cling on to the smallest hope that Garbutt could be decent as a wing back with slightly less defensive responsibility.

It physically hurts me . Like you, I'm clinging on to hope about Garbutt though! Looked good at PL level in his few appearances for us, but failed to impress lower down the leagues. Which is odd! smeghead1
Let's hope this actually comes off I wish them luck at their new club and thank them for making room for new signings. (I just pray one of them isn't Ashley Young I despise him) Edited January 30, 2017 by smeghead1 Romey 1878 and Lowensda
Lowensda
(I just pray one of them isn't Ashley Young I despise him) One of my least favourite players of all time. Paddock
A move will probably do Gibson the world of good. He's a decent player and if he stays fit is exactly what Sunderland need. Good signing by Moyes IF he can keep him fit.
London Blue
One of my least favourite players of all time. Like you, I despise him. I agree, smug bstard with not enough talent to back it up. I doubt we will sign him as Koeman seems to be buying players with a future. Paddock
I'd be surprised if we sold Oviedo and replaced him with Young, he'd be back up to Baines anyway, can't see him coming here to get splinters in his arse.
StevO
Moyes is defo getting the band back together! He really has no imagination does he? Romey 1878
Paddock
Don't think he has any choice, he has zero money to spend.
Lowensda
Don't think he has any choice, he has zero money to spend. Zero money to spend, needs characters, wants people he trusts and has worked with previously. We'll give him stick but he does know the players and believes that they can help Sunderland out of the relegation places. Edit: Although this did make me laugh Tony Scott @Tony_Scott11 3h3 hoursHootlet More David Moyes has spent more money on Everton players now, than he did when he was Everton manager. Paddock
? mad isn't it but you've got it spot on. He knows their characters and what he'll get from them they also know him and clearly enjoy playing for him. If he gets them all fit and playing together with Defoe upfront I think they have half a chance. Hull seem to be dismantling their team completely for some bizarre reason. Lowensda
Hull seem to be dismantling their team completely for some bizarre reason. Think they've given up. Realise they need to start again and rebuild for the future. It'll cost them far too much now, for what is ultimately just damage limitation, it's much better to go down and buy the better players in the division and go again. Paddock
Good point tbf, get rid of any high earners or relegation release clause contracts now for better money.
Lowensda
Good point tbf, get rid of any high earners or relegation release clause contracts now for better money. Exactly. Edit: From an Everton perspective, i'd be all over looking at Andrew Robertson from Hull. Long term Baines successor. Top player, still young (22). markjazzbassist
I wonder what Sunderland fans are making of all this?? I kinda feel sorry for them. something is better than nothing. Oviedo is the van aanholt replacement and they'll be happy he's solid and decent. Gibson is just another body and if he comes good they have a solid centre mid who can pass really well and make things happen. if not, he's another for the bench. Paddock
I think Oviedo will replace Van Aarnaut and as I've said if Gibson can stay fit he's a good player and will help them. They have a jewel in Defoe he can score goals, something their rivals lack bar Palace who have good players and I think will get out of it. markjazzbassist
Romey 1878
Gibson won't stay fit though. It'd be changing the habit of his entire career.
Paddock
New club though Romey, they may get 3 months out of him before he starts again, which if he helps keep them up will be all they need.
Romey 1878
£7.5m for the pair of them apparently.
