CraccerC
http://evertonfc.com/news/archive/moyes-re...pen-minded.html 'He insists that the players who he believes have performed to the best of their ability during pre-season will have the edge as the side prepare for the opening game of the season against Watford on August 19.' sounds encouraging for victor doesn't it? but tbh i think moyes is just sayign that to give insentive, he'll play beattie and aj, he won't play the young lad even though he's compeltely outshining the pair of them ... i'd probably give him the start agaisnt watford, what better game to give him a start, but with beattie our leadign scorer last term and AJ the big signing, i can't see them 2 being split up what you think? bluehuddo
You're probably right about Beattie and AJ. Am just glad that Moysey has got these "problems"
Romey 1878
If Moyes is brave enough he'll start with AJ and Anichebe, but I expect AJ and BT to start against Watford. I wouldnt be disapppointed with that starting line up but Vic deserves his chance
StevO
as long as its 2 of these 3 im not too bothered, just not jimmy mac
FairWooney
i'd like to hope that AJ and Beattie along with the rest of the team can do enough to win the game, I think Anichoebe for now will make a great player to come off of the bench. he has already proved this many times with a lot of good performances late in games. CraccerC
i agree with no mcfaggot, but moyes likes him i think but yeh as mark said, i'd liek to see him pluck up the courage to play anichebe, but havign said that beattie as we saw last seeason, really relies on confidence doesn't he? oh and not being fat
Adams
I want to see Victor and AJ upfront but will probaly be BT and AJ but thats still good

Romey 1878
victor needs to get his back sorted he was only on for twenty mins and you could see he was struggling after he scores hes holding his back.he was the same in america....but he looks promising...lets hope hel be ok. 44388[/snapback] Oh god we've got another Big Dunc in the making
ooberman
let's be honest, it's just nice to have a few options for once. i still wouldn't mind having an experienced back-up for Johnson and beattie, but if you think about it we've got AJ Beatts Victor Vaughan and then we could also use Faddy so, five strikers really, which is more than i can remember for MANY a year! EFCfanatic
^^ We did have 5 strikers before when Bent and Big Dunc were with us but we havent had 5 of this quality before! Edited August 10, 2006 by EFCfanatic
Blue4Ever
i really hope moyes doesnt buy another striker for backup because i dont think we would see Victor + Vaughan as much.
RuffRob
It has been a while since we had such and 'exciting' looking forward line up in my opinion. No over the hill, last saloon journey men. Beattie is the oldest at 28 Beattie and Johnson are both proven Premiership quality goal scorers, one with pace and another with good strengh, and the making of a fearsome pairing up front. If this partnership is as good on the pitch as it is on paper, once it clicks then some of the Prems defenses are going to have a torrid time. McFadden, the hottest youngster in Scottish football over the last few years, who is starting to find his feet in the Prem, and beginning to show some of his promise. Big Victor - our youngster who's pre-season exploits have him snapping at the heels of both AJ and Beattie for a place in the starting line up. Has the strength for the Prem and has shown he can regulalry find the back of the net. Could be a big Prem star in the making. James Vaughan, the Premierships youngest ever goal scorer, coming back to fitness after a horrible injury at the beginning of last season. Don't forget last summer a lot of us had him as a striker who is good enough to break in to the first team, much like Victor. Last year was horrid strikerwise at Goodison Beattie had to plough a very lonely furrow last season for much of the time, with very little on the pitch or bench to help him out. What a differnece a season can make.
Everton_Worshiper
I think it is going to be BT and AJ starting, Moyes may not want to risk Anchiebe from the start, let him come on at half time when BT has run out of puff. But want a firggin option to have, Anchiebe coming off the bench!

Everton_Worshiper
Hmmmm, not sure on McFadden. I am a big fan of his but when you compare him to Anchiebe and AJ is he nowhere near their talent. Plus, if I was McFadden I would be looking at who is likely to start up front....IMO not McFadden, plus he hasn't signed his contract. I get the feeling he might be gone by end of August (I hope not though).
Romey 1878
They seem to think this article means he's going to sign a new deal, but IMO it means that he's said to Moyes play me upfront or im off http://www.eatsleepsport.com/news_details....&l_id=1&t_id=31 Im a big fan of Faddy's and wouldnt want to see him go, but if he wants out then I'll accept that he's not going to succeed here
CraccerC
tbh i think mcfadden is bollocks, no pace, can't finish particularly well, he doesn't get in good position and make good runs, he's not a major aerial threat, the only thing he has is dribblign ability which isn't particualrly great as he often loses the ball i'd get rid, he isn't needed
Mac
To an extent I agree with Craccer in so much as his assesment of Jimmy Mac, but I feel we must keep him for the simple reason "SQUAD". I also feel this player is still a kid and maybe if the coaching staff do their job, we can bring him along and make him into a Prem quality player. ATB Mac

CraccerC
i can see what you're sayign as far as the squad goes but i can't see him ever being prem quality, he's 23 and doesn't really show many signs of being a good player, he doesn't have the attributes
