Matt
I don't understand why Joel isn't being given the chance. Buy two older keepers and throw away a talented and emerging younger one?i think he could be a really good keeper and needs a season behind a defence that isn't made of wet toilet paper. But I do want a GK who is top class immediately, and Begovic isn't that for me. Before Morishis money I would've been ok (not happy) but we really need a fantastic number one in now- we've ignored that position for too long
Btay
the only reason I can think why we never got him is the London link and easy to fly home given a couple of days off. Or we weren't in for him ? Can't argue that mate. In the end we don't know the targets.
toffeeblue1987
Twitter rumours say we've agreed 9mil fee for Begovic... I'd be happy with that. Less than 10mil, 29yrs old, premiership experience and a BIG 6"6 GK between the posts
Finn balor
My first choice would be butland but begovic for 9 mill is a steal. Really happy

msloan78
If true, £9m is a great price. Before he went to Chelsea he was fantastic.
Finn balor
Think he might turn out the buy of the season if it's true
Hafnia
Begovic as a full time keeper is quality. Not many keepers can just do the odd game here and there. That is a decent price. 5-6 years peak years ahead of him. Happy if true.
Romey 1878
I wouldn't be blown away by this signing but I wouldn't say I'd be disappointed either. Apart from the absolute garbage or the world class keepers it's hard to know how good or bad a keeper is if you're not seeing them play every week. Begovic has looked decent when I've watched Stoke and Chelsea on the tv, but I'm sure he has weak points to his game and makes howlers that we'll see if we sign him. c1982
I'd personally be delighted. Think he's an excellent all round keeper. He was Stoke's best player season after season during his time there.
Sibdane
He definitely be an upgrade at the very least. I'd love for him to come here.

Matt
CHELSEA CLOSE ON LOPEZ Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez is on the verge of signing for Chelsea, according to reports in Italy. Lopezs current club AC Milan are understood to have reached an agreement with the Blues for the 34-year-old Spaniard, who counts Real Madrid, Villarreal and Sevilla among his former clubs. Gazzamercato.it report an official announcement on the transfer will not be made until Asmir Begovic has left the club. Interesting for some on here I guess
Romey 1878
Interesting for some on here I guess I'd rather have Hart.
Matt Tiger
I'd rather have Hart. Rather have Begovic at ~10 then Hart at ~30, though. But yes, I'd rather have Hart generally. Sibdane

London Blue
This I agree with. I don't think they're very far apart in terms of ability. This, the difference in ability is not £20 million so would rather have Begovic at £10 million. Sibdane

Matt Tiger
Begovic could be a perfect stopgap for us... We get a temporary upgrade who can help us compete for a CL spot (may not get there, but back to competitive is what we need), but can wait to drop real transfer money until we are known for competing with the top 5 and can attract top talent. Peter H
Id also prefer Begovic at the price touted. Unless Hart comes at around 15 mil
Matt
I think if we're in for Hart, it will be loan-to-buy.
Aidan
Id also prefer Begovic at the price touted. Unless Hart comes at around 15 mil No way they can charge over the odds for Hart it's not fair on the player if he wanted to leave. Shouldn't be worth more than 12million IMO. He's surplus at city now and will want first team football. Sibdane
Sibdane
Dinamo Zagreb head coach has come out and said the Eduardo (their GK) is about to sign for Chelsea as backup for Courtois. Sounds like Begovic will be leaving in this window. Make of that what you will.

msloan78
If he was available for around 12-15m, personally I think it would be a bargain.
