La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier that he had rejected a move to Sunderland in favour of Bournemouth. Representatives of the Premier League new boys headed to Italy for talks with the 27-year-old earlier in the week. De Guzman spent two seasons on loan at Swansea from 2012-2014.
