Peter H
Fully agree he's a much better player but I always thought he got cut a rough deal from Moyes he was never played in his natural position as with many under his reign If he was here now and a fresh face and played in the hole as he should have been I think he'd suite our side fairly well now tbh Anyway back on topic as I said before I just can't see this happening surely he'll be on a fairly substantial wage and he's good enough to play for most of the top European sides so I'd be very surprised if some of the big boys aren't sniffing around also Agree 100% Would have liked to have seen Bily in his prefered position. He was no Drenthe

Matt
Someones jumping the gun in wiki. lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andriy_Yarmolenko exert from link. Everton[edit]In August 2015, Yarmolenko agreed a lucrative 5-year deal to move to the Merseysiders. He was quoted as saying, "Phil Jagielka's bongo drum forehead scoring against us made me realize just what football is all about. He finally seen the light and decided to make the move to Everton, where he soon noticed that the light was a big black man called kone with silly white hair. People thought yarmolenko was spotted in lime street diving for cover behind the luggage storage. That was where he was last seen. Love the reference

SimonButtle
His source is Twitter though probably. He said we had made a bid and Martinez was trying to sort it out this week due to him not needing a work permit, but yeah your probably correct Mike, you know what summers like for us blues. jofanon
If we are interested (and we still don't know that to be fair) - why wait this long in the window? Also it's a bit hypocritical of Martinez to say that transfer business should be done before the season starts
JoeQuince
Also it's a bit hypocritical of Martinez to say that transfer business should be done before the season startsThis has been covered before. It's not hypocritical to say that you wish the transfer window ended before the season and then conduct your business at the end of the transfer window (which happens to take place during the season). We are simply trying, as we do every year, to get the best possible deal for a player, which tends to happen as the window is winding to a close. In a more logical world nobody would have to play any matches while the summer transfer window was open. We are just doing our best to succeed with the structures that exist. It would make no sense to piss away several million more pounds because Roberto has taken a principled stance against the window shutting a few weeks after the season starts and will only conduct his business in July. I wish that universities weren't so damn expensive, but I still teach at one. Does that make me a hypocrite? Maybe it does in a small way. But, it's not as if I'm a socialist who works in hedge funds. And it's not like Roberto is a devout Muslim who sells Bibles door-to-door. If you disagree with your boss on how something should be done, raise your point for consideration, and are given the message that what s/he says goes, will it make you a hypocrite for going along with their demands? Peter H
Dynamo Kiev has put an offer in for Sevillas Vitolo. Supposedly Yarmolenkos replacement. According to sources Everton have placed an 11 mil (ish) bid for Yarmolenko but Kiev wants Everton to meet the 18 mil (ish) buyout clause. (Im estimating the exchange rates from Swedish kronor to pounds) I think this could be a goer if Everton can find another 2-3 mil. Martinez has said when you start playing games you shouldn't have to worry about interest from other clubs. Yet he's out buying players (hopefully). How can that not be hypocritical. Either way I don't care. As long as we get the best for Everton that's all that matters to me. It's not your fault you teach at an expensive uni. On the same hand, it is Martinez's fault when he chooses when to do his transfer business. Buying last minute doesn't necessarily equate to buying cheap either. There can be panic on both sides. Yet he's out buying players (hopefully). How can that not be hypocritical. The point he's making is that the rules should be changed so the window shuts before the season starts (I agree with him). As it stands he's working within the rules as they are because he has to. Zero hypocrisy. Is he supposed to rule himself out of the market four weeks earlier than everybody else to make a point? captainbeaker
Why have we waited? I hope its not so we can sell Stones first.... Many teams won't sell till they have a replacement etc, as said above they are close to signing a replacement ,maybe when that is done things can happen. If Roberto is happy with certain positions he may want yo use most of his budget on Yarmolenko etc. Several scenarios like that will be playing out. Not as easy as Championship manager etc.
