StevO
What did they change? I know previously you couldn't recall players if a fee had been paid, but if not you could recall at any time.
Romey 1878
What did they change? I know previously you couldn't recall players if a fee had been paid, but if not you could recall at any time. It might actually only be youth loans it applies to now I come to think about it. But, basically if you loan them out until say January then that's how long they stay there, no recalls.
StevO
Fair enough mate, to be honest I'd have no problem with him going out for the full season anyway. He should only be in the team now if we have a major problem.

c1982
http://twitter.com/CaulkinTheTimes/status/762756143059968000 Could mean CB incomings are close - Williams and Martins Indi seem most likely. I think Holgate will be around the 1st team as CB and maybe even RB cover.
EFC-Paul
If it means incoming players and with no option to buy then I'd be happy he needs minutes and if we bring in others he'll likely be a bit part player Definitely don't want to loose him long term though a loan for the season will do him the world of good but he's a very bright future and I hope it's here
duncanmckenzieismagic
He needs to be playing as a CB , not sure him playing LB all season will help his development that much
EFC-Paul
He needs to be playing as a CB , not sure him playing LB all season will help his development that much I noticed that in the Twitter link "Everton Left Back" surely they know he was played out of position!? He did well covering but as you say he needs to be played in the middle
markjazzbassist
He needs to be playing as a CB , not sure him playing LB all season will help his development that much i agree but i think the press thinks he's a LB since he played there for RM. Ron has him at CB for all pre-season matches so i think that's where he will play. Colocini retired so there are spots up for grabs there. c1982
He needs to be playing as a CB , not sure him playing LB all season will help his development that much They have Dummet at left back who has been one of their better players over the last few seasons (and a product of their academy) so would hope Galloway will get time at centre back for them. c1982
I've got a feeling we may have Sissoko or Mitrovic on loan from them. No one is paying what they'll ask, for either, and certainly Sissoko's not going to accept playing in the Championship - loan to buy maybe. EFC-Paul
I actually think Mitrovic would be a decent loan he has ability he just needs to settle abit and has that nasty edge to him we need at times, obviously not to the extent of getting sent off but given the right environment and man management I think he would do very well

Ron has him at CB for all pre-season matches so i think that's where he will play. Colocini retired so there are spots up for grabs there. If we do secure him on loan, we'll definitely play him as a Left Back. It's our weakest position by miles and we're so unbalanced without a decent LB. We're well stocked at CB, with Mbemba, Lascelles, Hanley, Clark & Dummett. They have Dummet at left back who has been one of their better players over the last few seasons (and a product of their academy) so would hope Galloway will get time at centre back for them. He fundamentally hasn't been one our better players, he's a really limited fullback/centreback. Zero pace, little technique and poor positionally, I'd get shot of him if we didn't need a big squad for the extra fixtures. re: Mitrovic, he isn't the mentalcase he's made out to be and it was only the red against Spurs that was nailed on. He puts himself about a bit, and he's got a nasty streak (which I like in a striker), but with more support and more experience he'll learn how to dance that fine line. I'd be surprised if he left, on loan or otherwise as he's our best striker and the kind of physical force Newcastle will need if we're looking to bounce straight back up from the Championship. The Fish
Then I hope you don't sign him. Genuine question; He's listed as a LB, he's played 2/3rds of his professional games at Left back, why do the Everton fans see him as a centre back? Does he offer little going forward, is it his physique?
Lowensda
He's a very capable LB but was only played there to cover for Baines (& Oviedo) whilst injured. As a left footed CB, he was the only defensive Left foot option we had. He is a CB and most fans want to see him develop as a left sided center back. No point in him developing his game at LB, when his future position needs experience. Edit - John Stone started as a RB. Now a very capable CB and that's who we thought may partner him. Physique isn't an issue. Edited August 9, 2016 by Lowensda

He is poor going forward; he can't cross very well, he's not particularly quick. And defensively he gets caught the wrong side far too often because being all the way out there is not his natural game. Edit - he won't beat his man either. In fact, he's more likely to just run the ball out of play. He does have good recovery though after he's been caught the wrong side; he'll mostly rectify the mistake by getting a good tackle in. We need a specialised left back, not a centre back who can play there if needs must. Cheer for the answers lads Sounds like a rich man's Dummett. At Everton, he played there sporadically when we needed him to before he became a fully fledged CB. He's NOT a left back, that's for sure. Although I do think he's a steady LB when needed. I'd be amazed if we don't play him LB, perhaps it's just match experience for him before he shifts centrally for you next season? Whatever position he is, he's a footballer and as such a vast improvement on Paul Dummett. Romey 1878

Romey 1878
Apparently there'll be an option to buy Galloway in the contract. If true that must mean Koeman doesn't rate him, or rates Holgate (or someone else) as a better prospect.
markjazzbassist
If true that must mean Koeman doesn't rate him, or rates Holgate (or someone else) as a better prospect. He already has given holgate more time in pre season and made comments about his quality. He then wants to loan Galloway out, that speaks volumes. If he wants to sell go ahead, if he doesn't fit Ron plans, then he can go. Ron knows best what he needs and who he needs.
