Bailey
Bloody unlucky Algeria. Great game to watch. France v Germany will be a humdinger. It will be the perfect clash of styles and I think France will have that little bit more quality in the final third to expose Germany where Algeria couldn't. I would be benching Giroud mind. verreauxi
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28102841 I reckon Verreauxi's behind it personally . Ha, yep, I got a throng of Thai bookies and a goon-squad of Albanian muscle. I just have to pick which teams will prevail...And it will be so. verreauxi
Everyone has a 2nd team in the WC. Who is (or was) your second team, the guys you root for when your not supporting your first team? And why? USA is my first team Mexico is my second due to having lived there for about 4 years as a kid.

Two top goalies who are fearless and have no problem running 20 yards out of the box to shut down a play.

johnh
The old sporting adage: 'Its better to be lucky than good'. If you apply this to the World Cup it must mean that Germany or France will win it.
markjazzbassist
My 2nd team is just teams from our region, so this time Costa Rica and Mexico and Honduras. I'm majority slovak decent so last World Cup I have them a shout as well.

Lowensda
off to the fanzone by the lake to watch the Swiss most likely get murdered... Well that just isn't in the spirit of the game. First biting. Now 1st degree murder. You're right to predict the downfall of the beautiful game.

Bailey
Bar Messi and to some extent Lavezzi this Argentina side are awful.
Bailey
Really poor performance from Di Maria this half. Doesn't look like he wants to be there. Edited July 1, 2014 by Bailey
Bailey
The only way Argentina are going to score is if Messi walks the ball over the line himself. He has tried to do a little too much himself at times but given what happens when he passes the ball to his team mates it's no surprise. Sibdane
Di Maria finally puts himself to use in this game.
Bailey
Di Maria with the winner. He has been shocking all game but to be fair to the lad he has kept going, especially in ET and it was a cracking first time finish.
MikeO
Robbery.
Bailey
I wouldn't say robbery... Switzerland have been shocking too. If the US can get through against Belgium which I think they have a very good chance based on the group stage performances, and they would cause the Argies a load of problems. Was in the car for the vast majority of it; only got home for the last ten minutes or so so my opinion was based solely on the 5live commentary. Bailey
Fair enough Mike. It was a shocker really. Switzerland didn't offer a threat and Argentina looked like they were waiting for Messi to win it for them (albeit it he was average in ET too). Probably the worst game of the last 16 so far. johnh
The consolation for those who wanted Switzerland to win was knowing that Blatter would be pissed off.
MikeO
If you're a match fixing mastermind you surely don't chat about it on Facebook pre match do you? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28114493 Der Spiegel "We firmly stand by our assertion, that Mr Perumal wrote in a Facebook chat some hours before the World Cup match Croatia v Cameroon, that the result of the match will be a 4-0-victory for Croatia and that a player of Cameroon will get a red card in the first half."
