Romey 1878
@philmcnulty: The odds now very much against Tom Cleverley joining Everton. Something major would need to happen in next hour & doesn't look like it will. J, your reputation is on the line! Looks like we've wasted time on this deal when we should've been going hard after a defender.

United are trying to play hard ball, we've proven to be better negotiators in recent years. Keep the faith Howardshands
JoeQuince
@GregOK: At this stage it's looking like #Everton have failed in their bid to get Tom Cleverley on loan. Seems like that's it for this window. #EFC

Keep the faith Similar to the Fellaini thing. They need to offload Cleverley more than we need to add him, I would think. If Martinez thought we needed a player like him that badly then surely he would have had another option lined up.

Newty82
News just coming in from somewhere... Bill Kenwright has said he has sold his Mum's house to the banks to finance this deal. The delay is in waiting for the money to arrive into his account.
Lowensda
Hour to go. Tom's paperwork is all but done. United are playing hardball. Don't blame them but if it goes through, it'll be very late. Everything but the go ahead is done.

StevO
It seems we have no money left to me. Maybe we are calling Uniteds bluff on this?
Lowensda
So make it public that Everton are no longer intrested?, so United blink? It may not happen but if it doesn't, it'll be 2015 for nothing (unless a big club comes in).
Romey 1878
Oh well. Guess we're a bit skint or the price was to high. Bollocks. We were only interested in a loan, they only wanted a permanent deal.

MC11
What gets me is why we've only been looking to add Cleverley. The squad could have done with reinforcements elsewhere!!

Everton have said they're done and no deals will be happening. They didn't say that last summer. I'm hoping it's smoke and mirrors but I very much doubt it. c1982
We're playing poker with Man U! They wanted £7-8m for someone with 1 yr left on the contract... Villa would pay that... Cleverley didn't want to go there... Martinez loves him but won't pay that for such a short contract... Cleverley wants the move to us because of Martinez... we want a loan deal... they want a permanent deal... we say we're out... do they blink first? Doubt it - they're the biggest club in the world!!! They won't blink, he came through their academy so it's not like losing him on a free next summer will even hurt them. It's only going to hurt Cleverley this because he'll not even get on their bench. United had all the power, and us and Cleverley had none.
