Louis
I'm looking forward to this, the opening ceremony is on television at the moment. Unfortunately, one of the Olympic rings didn't open in time during the main shot.
Louis
The animation on the ground is so impressive.
Lowensda
The stadia are impressive (same can't be said for the Olympic village aha)
Louis
With the Olympic Village though it's just journalists whinging about next to nothing. It's only needed for two weeks. http://edition.cnn.com/2014/02/06/sport/sochi-2014-olympic-village/
Louis
Ice hockey's on now, 'red button' job though. I think BBC are sticking to the GB athletes on the main channels.
Lowensda
Watched the Ice Hockey, twas good. Still think Canada have it in the bag
MikeO
Watched the Ice Hockey, twas good. Still think Canada have it in the bag Never really got Ice Hockey on the TV......too fast; can't follow the puck (mind you I find the curling a bit racy, I blame Eve Muirhead ). Must be great to watch live though I'd have thought.
Lowensda
I go every other week Mike, my most local spot, Manchester Phoenix. I love it. Atmospheres good. Actions hard and fast. Crowd are pleasant but passionate. Real fa.ily atmosphere
Matt
went to a Servette game once, its bigger than football over here. Not my cuppa but it was still enjoyable live. Lowensda

Basketball is a bit the same for me; loses its appeal on TV but the live games I've seen have been brilliant. Got chatting with a couple of Americans who played for Newcastle on the way into a game in Guildford a few years back; felt like a toddler . US version must be something special with the size of the crowds. Back on topic Lizzy Yarnold odds-on for gold in the women's psychopath skeleton; well clear after the first two runs . And one of our speed skaters DQ'd from silver and placed fourth.....fix :shaking fist:.
Formby
Ice hockey: I'll go with Sweden - best goaltender. Was a regular at the Manchester Storm when they played at the MEN. NHL games are amazing live - different experience on TV, but if you follow a team, no less appealing. Lowensda
Lowensda
Sweden looked a little predictable yesterday. So i'm hoping for a Canada gold. Russia will be good, as host nations, some top quality in their lines too.

MikeO
We have mate, apologies No need to apologise J; I have the same conversations so often now I find myself having them with the same people multiple times . If I had a £ for every time Josh has said to me, "You told me that yesterday dad!" in the last six months I'd be on the phone to BK right now making him an offer . Guest Nikica
Haven't been watching this but I do like ice hockey. I hardly ever watch it but when I have it's looked like 5 a sides on ice and it's great to play NHL video games. I will google the ice hockey event and see what time it's on etc,
MikeO
Good to see play being pulled back to give a goal (crossed the line, not given as in Lampard V Germany) wrongly not given in the Czech/Latvia match....even though it'd carried on for a minute or so. Natural justice.....even though the Latvian scorer didn't even appeal for it.

Peter H
Sweden have 2 very important players injured. So I think our chances of an Olympic gold are very low unfortunately. Canada are a good shout but don't forget the Russians or the Finns.
Lowensda
Sorry Peter I want Canada to win but you're right, Russia look good (post says it anyway).

Peter H
Canada without a shadow of a doubt. Sweden were taught a lesson in hockey today. Missing our 3 best players. 2 injured and one case of illegal substances? From an allergy medicine apparently.
Louis
It'd be sad if the NHL prevent their players from taking part again, I enjoyed the Ice hockey. http://olympics.si.com/olympic-ice-hockey/2014/02/23/sochi-olympics-hockey-nhl-players-out-2018
