Matt
?not sure how else to put it. A player has 6months before this contract expires = Everton target. He's not a bad player, but he isn't a player to improve the team either (except in numbers)

Romey 1878
So, our finances are healthy and yet we seem to be looking exclusively at players running down their contracts... Hmm.
Cornish Steve
So, our finances are healthy and yet we seem to be looking exclusively at players running down their contracts... Hmm. That's how teams become healthy financially. The richest people in the world never got that way by splashing out. Being careful and looking for value has been their lifetime habit. I'd still rather pass on Colback though....
c1982
Could be saving up for a striker!!! He'd be decent back-up for McCarthy/Barry especially with Gibbo's injury record being a bit of an issue.
marcopaulo
i'd be delighted if we got him for a training fee or whatever it is..big fan as for the looking at players with little left on contracts..i think that's very wise in january..very rarely do you get value for money in this transfer window
Vranny
Would be a handy cover player for central midfield, especially with the injury prone Gibson being the other real back-up option, and left back. On the other hand he might just get in the way of developing players such as Lundstram, although another Championship loan for guaranteed game time might do him more good again next season anyways. bluenosetoffee
Colback isn't sh1t just I don't think it is a player who can improve our team. I know we would never attract players like Reus, Costa, Mata etc but I do think we should have better ambitions for players than Colback. Again Colback is a good player but I don't think we need him, if we got him on a low fee and he was a squad rotation player then yeah sounds good but I don't see him getting in front of McCarthy, Barry or even Gibbo when he is back and fit. If his wages are low and we get him on the cheap then makes sense but I do think it is a player who won't be walking into our first team. He will end up going to Crystal Palace or West Ham, West Brom or somewhere like that.
marcopaulo
i don't think for a second he'd be signed as a starter..but you need backup players..for a low fee and (presumably) low wages it would be a no brainer Romey 1878

Cornish Steve
If we don't aim at a target, we'll never hit it. Aim high! If we could secure Lukaku for a year, why not benefit from Mata's struggles making the first team at Chelsea?

Guest
I trust Roberto's judgement but not for me. I like the idea of being positive and getting players like ince etc signed on pre contracts early doors. You know where you are then and shows good long term planning Matt
c1982
Colback would provide cover in cm and lb so if there's any interest it would make sense to try and get him in before Fri. Would he want to come though with a trip to Wembley on the horizon?
MC11
Colback would be an awful signing for a club of our stature and the way we are looking to move forward. At best he's a mid table player. At very very best. Lowensda and Matt
Bailey
I was actually impressed by Colback against Utd. Really good energy, surprisingly composed and he actually played some quite cultured passes. He looked like he would suit our style.

Brett Angel
Don't mind him at all..... Good tidy player, and can slip into left back also if need be.... Good squad player. Don't mind getting him so long as we also buy three world class players along side in the summer.think we need a more creative midfielder though. Have too many sit in midfielders. Barry, McCarthy, Gibson, osman Romey 1878
MC11
Had a look at his stats and surprisingly he's a very good player. He's definitely easy on the eye. Maybe he's has the sort of reputation Osman had/has for us. Definitely a squadie though.
