Toffee_in_LA
Love what I'm seeing from Barry and... Naismith out of all people. A bit fortunate to have the lead, now we need to carry on and stop giving the ball away at the midfield (cough Osman cough) markjazzbassist
DLK
Not happy about Naisy starting. Hope he rams it down my throat though. COYB's How's that ramming?! Steve_E and Toffee_in_LA

Quinn31
Naismith scored in the derby last year, and now twice against Chelsea... He seems to know how to score in a big match.

Hafnia
I would be taking Osman off now, McCarthy on. Put Gerry on for jalavic and give mirrallas and Gerry option to swasp as striker
Quinn31
For the love of God though, can Goodison crank up the noise in the 2nd half? Channel the noise from Manchester City or West Ham last year.
JoeQuince
Naismith scored in the derby last year, and now twice against Chelsea... He seems to know how to score in a big match. This. But every big match he starts or comes into gives me so much extra anxiety. I need to start reassuring myself with this observation.
rubecula
Great end to the first half but I am still uncomfortable with the style of play. I was near ripping me own arms off in frustration for a lot of that. Still it is the goals that count. Another half like the first and I will end up a nervous wreck but happy. Newty82
Great play by the 3 villains!!! Chelsea very wasteful. Good. Would like to see McCarthy on and feel we need more pace up top...so Gerry please! Not much wrong today...playin a top class team.
Toffee_in_LA
I would be taking Osman off now, McCarthy on. Put Gerry on for jalavic and give mirrallas and Gerry option to swasp as striker I think you crush any remaining confidence Jelavic has if you sub him out now. I'd say give him another 15-20 minutes. Steve_E
Naismith has that desire to score the ugly goal that Mirallas lacks. I can't see Kev getting into that position.
Mike Preece
Gareth Barry can read a football match that's for sure, very impressed with him and I was a doubter. Sad to see Ossie,s demise but he isn't contributing, Gerard could open them up. Pleased but no way cocky more hard work to come. still allowing to much room in the final third. COYB. Bailey
I think we have done pretty well in the first half. Again not vintage but we are doing alright and frustrating Chelsea whilst creating our own chances. The opportunities we have given them have come from our own poor play. Barkley has been guilty on a couple of occasions, Osman must be below 50% pass completion for anything over 5 yards, and Howard also had his lapse. On other instances Coleman has been running into dead ends or neglected to put a ball into the box when we had people in the area, Jelavic has failed to keep hold of the ball and Naismith has been equally impressive and frustrating by working hard and creating some opportunities before giving the ball away needlessly. Its a shame Mirallas cant get into the game in the same way. To my eye, Chelsea dont look anything special and bringing McCarthy on for Osman would be a huge move IMO because his hussle is exactly what we need. Like Steve_E says, Chelsea will press forward quite aggressively now so getting Deulofue on and moving Mirallas up front to counter wouldnt be the worst idea I have ever heard given the resources we have available. I could see Luiz getting sent off if we did move that way.
Bailey
Well we got lucky then. Aggressive pressing from Chelsea and we fall asleep. Wake the fuck up please!

Steve_E
Distin and Jagielka on a different wavelength there. Jagielka chased back, while Distin maintained the line to get him offside.

Hafnia
Give Naismith something to think about involving technique and its hard not to be pessimistic.
