Cornish Steve
If you had to choose the most beautiful two minutes of music ever written, what would it be? Maybe you can post a YouTube link with the start and stop times of your two minutes.

Louis
I can't really top Hafnia's suggestion (is it a Western theme?) Here's my suggestion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkWjsT_SJNI

Avinalaff
This was actually banned from public ear by the Pope at the time for being 'Too beautiful'. In the car or headphones is just incredible.

Avinalaff
why only 2 mins out of curiosity? It stops DK from nominating Culture Club.
Dalziel Kane
I never was much one for Culture Club, overrated 1980s hyperbole artists and 'musicians' such as Frankie Goes to Hollywood or fucking Five Star. Two minutes of beautiful (a word I sometimes fail to recognize) music and I wouldn't know quite what to include. I did think about Metallica or Black Sabbath but in the end thought something like Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture, Ravel's Bolero or even Beethoven's seventh symphony would be an appropriate choice, but it can be hard not to get irritated with most music from any time period I always found. One or two select pieces and releases, you can live with.
Avinalaff
There are some stunning tracks on this: The violin tracks in particular.

Cornish Steve
why only 2 mins out of curiosity? Arbitrary. Thought it would be easier to listen to 2-minute snippets than wading through Der Ring des Niebelungen.
Cornish Steve
Wow. I've really enjoyed listening to the selections posted here - thank you. Quite a mix of styles and musical periods. For almost 40 years, I've listened to one piece of music over and over again - hundreds of times - and I'm still learning new things from it. The work was written by a dying man and lay incomplete for decades. Only in recent years have others picked up the unfinished manuscript to produce completed versions. Some parts are difficult to listen to at first, whereas others are sublimely beautiful from the first hearing. Forgive the death mask image on , but I would recommend listening to this final movement from 14:45 to 16:50.
Cake
Vide Cor Meum, Patrick Cassidy. 2 minutes from the film Hannibal. Florence is the most beautiful, atmospheric city I've been to, and I've been to a few. Breathtaking place for many reasons. Wouldn't mind ending up there, someday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv_167Znr6M and the full version Edited July 21, 2013 by Cake Mogsy

Theme music to Game of thrones spring to mind. Violin/piano solo in Ultravox "vienna". Time to say goodbye with Andrea B and ms Brightman.
