Shukes
Got nothing to do with me, was down in Portsmouth this night. Trying to have a soccer free close season but it appears even that is not possible. Let me understand this. Junior teams in a junior competition, not going well, a disappointing draw for the english against opposition you really should be beating ? Doesn't sound too disimilar from the senior side. What's the progress on this and what stage are you at. These kids are supposed to be your future. I could detect one or two frustrations. Watching it mainly for our players. While the draw was dissapointing there were a lot of good things in the game. England played well in the second two thirds of the pitch, but looked shaky in the first. The equaliser was a simple case of not dealing with the ball, which happened on several occasions. These are not juniors by the way these are players with first team experience and many are entering a very important season in thier development. But this was a world away from the recent U21s that basically rolled over and gave up, this was a case of not finishing a team of and letting them back into it with sloppy goals. Barkley was impressive. Great runs and sharp turning on the ball. nearly scored afetr a few minutes and had another decent effort blocked. Did have a hand in the second goal and should have had another assist. Lundstrum was average, i have watched him play much better than that. Good opening twenty minutes but didnt get involved enough. Long was energetic and eager if not technically good. But came on as sub and tried too hard. Had a decent effort on goal but ran into a few dead ends. Hafnia
Barkley is exciting, simple as that. Everton have had a few false dawns with young homegrown midfielders - Billy Kenny the first (albeit he threw it away), Tony Grant, and to a point Jack Rodwell. I just hope that it all clicks and his mentality catches up with his undoubted talent.

Thats just the ones that played, your forgetting guys like Kissock potentially 'The English Messi' linked with Real Madrid and Chelsea at 14, and look what happened there. Then theres Jeffers,Cadamateri etc etc. Barkley really does look as though he has got something though, bit rough round the edges still but underneath a talented individual. MikeO
Stones and Barkley are starting against Chile. I'll be missing the beginning of the match though. Thanks for posting that! I'd assumed it was another evening kick off so I'd have missed it otherwise .
Bainaar
This Potts kid who has been playing left back is not very convincing in the two games I've seen him in he's just given a penalty away now
Bainaar
Duncan Ferguson and lee Carsley? Both seen watching the England u20 game not much to be impressed or of incredible note worthy. Barkley and stones have been average with Barkley being one of the better players of a bad bunch of first half performances.
Bainaar
1-1 Kane scores, Ross Barkley gets the assist after a good run
Romey 1878
1-1 Kane scores He's still shit . Good to see Barkley assisting again though, I really hope he gets more playing time for us.
Bainaar
Yeah he is still shit which is why I was surprised he scored, chris long looks a much better striker than Jane but isn't as strong as Kane

Bainaar
The structure and style of play and work ethic of some of the players in the team is just generally dreadful. We were lucky to get a point out of that game we were not good enough and again Ross Barkley was the key man in the team we only really look dangerous when he runs at defenders otherwise there is very little or no attacking outlet. As when Kane has the ball he is wasteful and doesn't have a good enough footballing brain to know when to hold the ball and give it to a played in space also a lot of his shots are just really really bad! Stones played better in the second half and played quite decent at right back. There was very little play through the middle of the park. Steve_E
Both Stones and Barkley didn't have the best of games. Barkley running with the ball was the only thing that generated anything for England though, I never noticed how impressive his acceleration on the ball was before this tournament. England as a whole got outplayed btw. Partly due to England's tactics straight out of the 80s. The contrasting styles in coaching were especially apparent in the first half. England played two banks of four, Barkley ahead of that and Kane ahead of that and just waited for Chile at the half-way line. Chile were able to pass and pass until they found an opening. Both their full backs were almost as high up as the box at the same time. England however generally booted it up towards Kane as Chile pressed him up the pitch (even the goal keeper was aggressively pressed), he got whatever body part he could to it and then the ball would bounce back to a Chile player. The full backs never got up the pitch and in general very few people broke lines and joined in the attack. Shukes
Barkley, stones and Garbutt start tonight. Both Garbutt and stones have started well. Barkley has not had much of the ball yet. 12 mins
Shukes
Great play from both Barkley and Stones. stones put a great cross in and Barkley hit first time on the volley ( shinned it ) and a good save from the keeper. Stones is looking real good and even seems to have a turn of pace on him.
Shukes
Barkley is coming into it more now afetr a few good touches. Looking like Englands main threat. The lad cole is looking a decent player too,

Matt
i must only see Barkley when hes doing stupid things. For every positive thing he does, theres many more crap / stupid decisions.
Shukes
hes not doing much wrong tonight. A few loose balls but all in the right third of the pitch. He has shown great touches, some excellent turns and a real eye for the dangerous ball. Pretty impressed with him tonight.
Shukes
Good piece of skill to create a chance from Barkley. Resulting corner comes out and he hits a 25 yarder, just rises over.
