Which Premiership players would be sensible targets in January?

Defoe maybe, or Scott Parker, or even Holt or Hoolahan at Norwich and Lambert of course. Carlton Cole at WHU, or Ba at Newcastle. The way their season is going it could well be second division soccer of them next season so he could well be on his way at end of season, and is a decent player. Cisse at Queens Park Rangers could be another name to consider.

Unless we sell, gonna be loans not getting a game at their respective clubs, and would have to be at higher teams to improve us.

City - Lescott, Gudetti, Sinclair (if we get desperate)

Utd - Wellbeck(cant see it but with Kagawa back they might)

Chelsea- Marin

FINALLY someone who backs me up on Marin.

Yeh Marin on loan wouldnt be a bad deal. He would at least provide us with some decent back up.

Im not really sure there is that much out there in the Prem at this stage. Prices will be too high for us and I dont really see us being able to get anyone outside of a loan deal. Ideally we need a classy midfielder or another Mirallas style winger to improve our current starting 11 and I think both would be out of our price range.

Good player but not a sensible suggestion because there's no way he'd sign for us.

Lightweight liability, Moyes would strangle him and so would rest of the the squad due to his lazyness

Id take Lampard

An extract from the Annual Accounts of Everton FC:

The increased investment in the playing squad has also been reflected in

a 2% increase in wages as a percentage of turnover to 71% for 2011.

The Premier League average for wages as a percentage of turnover

for the 2009/10 season was 68%. The club’s wages as a percentage of

turnover including outsourced catering and retail was 67% for the

2010/11 season.

These wages are practically all player wages. In other words, 70% of the costs made by the club are for wages alone, more than transfers, financial costs (for debts) and other costs. Lampard is a player who might not cost a lot to get here, but his wage demands will most likely exceed what Everton is able to offer him.

Im sure Lampard would cut his wages to be able to keep playing in the prem. Obviously not wanted by Chelsea

I remember Moyes clearing the squad of old veterans, so can't see us bringing in a mid 30's midfielder, especially when Lazio are offering him 3 years on 2m per year.

He might have been a great player, but much of that is down to desire and determination, often lost when leaving the club you love.

If we tried to get him it would be a backward step IMO. Remember the days we were scraping around looking for older players at the end of their carreers. We got Gazza, Richard Gough, Ginola and so on. I am not saying he couldn't do a job for a season or two. BUT do we want to regress to that kind of thing again?
