Dalziel Kane
You can understand the frustration James Dunn, would have been 112 Years Old Today, (died 1963) Scorer at the 1933 FA cup final win, member of the Wembley Wizards No other significant Birthdays Today in 2009 - a 2 - 3 loss at Hull City in the League Today in 2000 - a 2 - 1 win over Chelsea in the league at Home. Campbell and Cadamarteri. Seems like yesterday Today in 1995 - a 2 - 2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at home. Mark Bright scored twice, Amokachi and Kanchelskis for us. It was featured in a documentary at the time in the streets around Goodison Park with people with questionable attire although it was a long time ago but that's really no excuse Today in 1989 - a 0 - 1 loss at Nottingham Forest in the league Today in 1987 - a 3 - 1 home win (again) over Bayern Munich, this time in the 'Mercantile football league challenge tournament', although what the fuck that was, I don't quite remember Today in 1978 - a 1 - 0 away win at Norwich City in the League. Michael Lyons with the only goal Today in 1975 - a 0 - 2 loss at Notts County in the League Cup (fourth round) More stats another time
Dalziel Kane
Let's continue maybe Harry Catterick - I Think sometimes was a better manager than Kendall and McIntosh, would have been 93 Years Old Today, (died 1985) Club legend, and put together perhaps the best team we ever had between 1967-71, or if not that, they were immense. Can't give Catterick enough accolades, a giant of a managerial figure No other significant Birthdays Today in 1997 - The plastics were at the very near beginning of becoming what they are today, and beat us 2 - 0 in West London in the League, in our near relegation season Today in 1994 - I was in attendance of all things as this time we beat Chelsea 1 - 0 at Stamford Bridge. Rideout with the only goal and had a second one ruled out for no reason whatsoever I remember. Royle had just come in and things started to pick up. Doesn't seem that long ago now Today in 1988 - a 1 - 0 win at West Ham in the league. T Steven that day Today in 1983 - 14,000 are in attendance at Goodison Park as we lose 0 - 2 at home to Norwich City in the league. Kendall was under some very severe pressure at the time Today in 1977 - That famous win over Coventry at Home as Latchford scores three and we win 6 - 0. One of the best team performances I have seen at the club. Worthy of league champions but Nottingham Forest were winners in the end and we got third place

But we would go on to be champions so who cares Today in 1930 - a 6 - 4 home win over Oldham Athletic in the second division. But what a game that must have been Incidentally, I missed the passing of Roy Vernon, one of our most established players, who passed away what would have been yesterday in 1993, aged just a mere 56 years, so while not usually for deaths, I give him a mention also as a date of remembrance
Dalziel Kane
Espen Baardsen - Very short lived Goalkeeper of recent years who had a very poor debut, is 35 Years Old Today Today in 2008 - That game with Aston Villa as all the action came late in the game as we lost 2 - 3. They scored in added time you will remember after Lescott had seemingly grabbed a draw near the very end Today in 2003 - a 0 - 0 home draw with Manchester City in the League, back in a time before the big money takeover Today in 2002 - a 1 - 3 home loss to Chelsea in the league Today in 1992 - a most famous game with Liverpool at home and our first win over the shite since 1988. MikeO
Never forgave Darracott for that horrible back pass in '77. Actually, still don't. That was a horrible night . Dalziel Kane
What, people actually read these pages I don't remember the back pass in question, but could well be the second replay incident when the Aston Villa player (Little ?), scored a goal right at the end after a defensive mistake. It could well be that, but not 100 per cent Furthermore the League Cup won't be available for another 200 years. Expect it to be defunct within 20.. All teams have their share of bad nights for specific decades, we were hardly alone for it also. But of course that defeat to Panathanikos in '71, League Cup Final 2nd replay, FA cup semi-final replay and that Thomas error in '77, and I can't really think much more beyond that right now. There were just as many disappointing nights in the 1980s too of course. League Cup final replay, Oxford game, FA cup semi-final replay 1980 etc.

Latchford with two that day Today in 1963 - a 0 - 6 loss at Arsenal in the league. Damn strange in retrospect as they had an ordinary side at the time and we were League Champions Today in 1938 - Lawton (bless) gets the only goal in a 1 - 0 away win at Preston North End in the league

(Barmby) He was the last ever Everton player to score at The Baseball Ground Today in 1995 - a 0 - 1 loss at Newcastle in the League who were in first place at time of fixture. Think Ferdinand may have scored it. Today in 1992 - a very ordinary Chelsea team beat us in a League cup replay in front of 19,000 at Stamford Bridge. Pay attention kids, it was only in the recent past they really were not much at all. Also beat us in the FA cup that year back in February.
