Bailey
They were really impressive last night especially considering it was their 'second string'... The attitude from the players was fantastic and the way the midfield held its shape, hunted the ball down and worked for each other was what won them the game. They really should have won that by more than the 1 goal and by the end of it Man City were all over the place. These are the type of games Moyes should watch because he could learn so much from them as they dont rely on one or two players to make the system work. Dalziel Kane
They have got to be one of the favorites to be overall winners, and it will make a nice change from the usual names you see at the very end who get to win the tournament. Was surprised to see (be aware) Manchester City did so badly overall and finished bottom of their group. Only goes to show that money can't buy you everything. Hopefully the plastics can follow their lead tonight by also being eliminated if they don't win their game and Juventus lose I think. Keeping everything crossed
Romey 1878
Chelsea are going out, Juve only need a draw and they're winning.

Dalziel Kane
Really pleased for them as Parkhead is probably the most intimidating arena in the UK for opposition sides and it's no surprise they always do so well in Glasgow, it always gives them a chance. Into the last 16 for them, and they have a chance to progress dependant on who they face next, but not all up on who actually is left in. I have to be pleased with a plastics elimination, they were a fucking embarrassment this year for overall winners, totally undeserved, and the competition is better today for their elimination. I hope it affects subsequent league games and they have some more disappointment. No love lost there. Let's have a team this time who really deserves to be champions of Europe damn it. MikeO
Controversial....United have an apparently onside goal disallowed (not seen it myself); would have made it 0-3 then City get one back inside a minute! Late City penalty coming ?

Dalziel Kane
I couldn't give a fuck about either of them to be truthful. Two clubs will little chance of winning anything this season who I even fail to recognize. No love lost for either, although if one beats the other that could well be the best case scenario. Dalziel Kane
Just to add, there was a quite delicious piece of action today when some kid ran on to the pitch at Manchester City with a quite criminal piece of head attire, and tried to get at Ferdinand. Saw it on Sky recently. Don't laugh much, but that did raise a smirk. I wonder if he'll get a ban from the arena for that, or just a 'don't do that again' thing etc. You can't be too harsh on kids, but what was he thinking ? MikeO
Eight year contract for Pardew . One season wonder last year Newcastle....now back in their rightful place; was never in doubt. Romey 1878

Dalziel Kane
Don't quite see what people's issue with Pardew is, he's actually a decent manager and not a one hit wonder either. Took West Ham to a Final in three successive years, and very nearly beat the shite with the latter, was only seconds away from a most famous achievement. It was only earlier this year everyone was saying what a fine job he had done on Tyneside, and now everyone's up to berate him ? Newcastle were relegated about three years ago also, when nobody expected it, so that could well come to pass. Won't get much humor from it, but merely saying, there is that possibility again. Dalziel Kane
I had exactly the same thing when he was at West Ham United. Nice man, decent individual, but the club he was working for, and effectively bringing results to, was painful sometimes. He still has done better than people realize the last eight years or so, and doesn't quite get the recognition he may deserve.
