DonKey
Annoyed that Distin drops straight back in, and a little undecided about starting Pienaar straight away too. Would have liked to have seen him work his back into squad. Fingers crossed for another Strac Attack today.
MikeO
Surprised Pienaar starts....he's barely played for a year . But I guess DM has seen enough in training.
Bailey
I imagine Moyes is thinking that Drenthe will be the better of the two when used off the bench so I would imagine DM will make the sub a lot earlier than he normally does, irrespective of how well we are doing. Blue 250
no nev...distin straight back in...pienaar starts Distin, straight back in!!.........................pretty much what I said would happen
c1982
Distin, straight back in!!.........................pretty much what I said would happen If he's 100% there's no harm in putting him straight back in. Duffy's done well but he's not all-round as good as Distin yet, so Distin in for Neville moving Hibbo to his natural position... surely people aren't moaning about this? Are they the same that moaned about Hibbo starting CB vs City? Are they the same moaning about Neville playing at all? Meh! COYB!!!

Not moaning!!......I said Moyes would play experience over youth and was shot down by some prick!
Bailey
Not necessarily moaning, but just a bit disappointed. I can't imagine that Distin is now 100% fit considering he couldn't play on Tues and I wouldn't see any harm in starting Duffy again for this one giving Distin more time to get fully fit. Anyway game time now! COYB's!
c1982
Not moaning!!......I said Moyes would play experience over youth and was shot down by some prick! So you did... So Vellios scores 3 for the reserves and can't get past Saha, Baxter isn't given a chance at the expence of Saha or Cahill, Barkley is being eased in and wont at present dislodge more favored midfield players, Rodwell suffered the same problem. It's obvious Moyes plays youngsters a times, he has too, but it was all so obvious that I was saying when the two experienced central defenders are fit again Duffy will probably step back. Get your head out of your arse you dick! He got under your skin didn't he?! To be fair I think duncanmc's a decent poster - I think BU/negativity winds him up. I think not bringing Velios in for Saha is very different to bringing Distin back for Duffy.

Bailey
Decent build up and attempt by Straq... Not the sweetest of strikes though!
Bailey
We have started realy well, just lacking that final ball though. Well and truly all over them.
Steve_E
Hibbert 's having difficulties with that Beausejour-lad.
MikeO
Like he never left Amazed that he played so poorly at Spurs....seems straight back to his best.
Bailey
Hibbert caught out badly, could have led to a decent chance for them... Wigan just starting to get their foot on the ball and we have sat a little deeper.
Bailey
Oooh fuck almost conceded. Long ball and Distin completely lost Di Santo, not really sure what he was doing tbh. Good save from Howard.
SimonButtle
Need to help Hibbert out somehow he's getting caught, we look a bit ropey at the back
Bailey
Haha for as good as Gibson's strike was last week, this one is the polar opposite. 30 yards out ball breaks nicely, but he duck hooks it out of play for a throwin about 25 yards from the Wigan line! Steve_E
Stracq and Cahill have done very little so far. I'd bring Drenthe for Cahill and move Pienaar to the middle at half time.
Bailey
Not seen much of Cahill at all actually, but when the ball has got to Straq he has done quite well.
Steve_E
Pienaar lost Stam there. Luckily Hibbert was defending well.
Bailey
Somehow Wigan are all over us now and only a brilliant header from Hibbert stops them scoring. We looked so good in the first 15mins and I thought we were going to rout them, but we have sat back and let them play which is stupid because they are a decent 'footballing' side when they want to be. SimonButtle
Back to the usual routine today then it seems
Bailey
Distin/howard (and heits/howard before that) up to usual tricks. Lack of communication which could have cost us. On the attack though Gibson has just missed a golden opportunity. Great play from Baines.
Bailey
With a good ball Straq could have been in on goal or at least getting a shot off. Instead Straq has to slide to stop it going out of play.
Bailey
Both Baines & Hibbert are letting too many crosses get in for my liking. If we keep giving them space, they will end up connecting with one of them.
chicagoblue
What an awful game. We look okay when we keep it down and play the slick passing, but this is anyone's game right now. Gibson really should have done better with his chance. Think we need 2 up front, Wigan's midfield is a joke, we should be imposing our game here, not playing down to theirs. Matt
utter crap....
SimonButtle
Well so far Cahill is having a stinker, Gibson needs to remember his team mates are the ones in the yellow shirts today, not the blue ones, and you would'nt even know that Donovan was playing, and Distin looks short of match practice imo. Drenthe to come on defo, and possibly Jelly also
