Louis
as compensation for "loss of parking revenue". Organisers have already paid £7k for a Traffic Order and have been told they'll lose the money unless that pay further £14k. http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/forummessages.asp?dt=4&UTN=185392&V=1&SP Seems out of order. The organise Alan Rothwell, is an Evertonian.

FanchesterCity
Seems awful on the surface, but... You can't just have any old charity stopping the streets and costing the council money. You'd soon be moaning with the taxes go up and jobs are cut. I don't think it's quite as bad as it initially sounds. Council (tossers that many of them are) are in a no win situation here.
Louis
The event lasts less than two hours but the council are asking for a full day's compensation. The council have now retracted the invoice.
