Romey 1878
The irony is remarkable. If Hodgson believed in him then why did he play some absolute dross ahead of him? Alli I get, but the others? Do one, you stupid prick.

Hafnia
http://www.football365.com/news/ross-barkley-in-danger-of-becoming-a-lost-talent Completely confused by that article.... contradicts himself all over the place. That bullying prick destroyed Barkleys confidence in the world cup after a great season for us. Then his expletive rant at him at the end of the Scotland game... stole a luck g from the game has hodgson. efc1111
Palfy
Yep. Hodgson is talking utter twaddle here. He has a lot to answer for with the decline of Ross Barkley. I do worry for Ross. I think he is about to burn out massively, I can see him ending up slipping down the league into obscurity. Same as that even the slipping down the league's, he needs to sign his contract if it's still on the table and fight for his place, where he will have the support of the fans. Paddock
All the people decending him can stop now- he was offered a good contract at a time his boyhood club are about to build a newstadium, fresh injection of investment and playes finally being signed but he wants a fresh challenge. He 100% wont get in a CL team. The lads deluded. Isaiah and Lowensda

gethinO
New challenge? Do me a favour. To warrant a new challenge you need to achieve all you can at that club when in reality he'a done bugger all. 23 and still the same player as he was when he broke through at 17. He'll 100% regret this decision as his career is only going down from now on. Shame. efc1111
captainbeaker
With being a local lad, he's always going to be under a lot of pressure in Merseyside, he's after a fresh start in a different city which is fair enough. It's about a fresh challenge not about money if that's right, so lets just see what happens. Just of interest if he stayed till next year and let his contract expire, would Everton still get a development fee(which could be decent for an England international) if signed by an English club? Romey 1878
This is my look on it. Mine too. I'm actually seriously pissed off about this. Not because Barkley will be missed but because it's cowardice being dressed up as ambition. The fact is he's gone from having Martinez blowing smoke up his arse to Koeman giving him a few home truths - he's not good enough and needs to improve. Both of those things are facts and what happens? The lad shits his pants, runs down his contract and will continue to do so in order to make his fee as minimal as possible. He's a gobshite. Pure and simple. rubecula, Lowensda and Chach 2
rubecula
Let him go, or let him stay. I really don't give a toss anymore, we are Everton and no player is as big as the club, even great players do npt come close to that accolade, and he is not a great player (grate player maybe but not great) markjazzbassist
Popular Post Newty82
Koeman really challenged Barkley last season to step up and show what all the hype was about. Pundits all said at the start of last season that it was a key season for Barkley as he was no longer 'potential', he needed to show he had it. At times he was great. Other times it was still like watching him when was was raw. Any player anywhere on the talent spectrum can have good moments. That's the problem with Barkley. I can't blame anyone for wanting a new challenge. But whoever has been advising him needs to find him a new club asap, because Koeman isn't the type to go back on his word. Unless Barkley looks immense in training (which he won't at the moment obviously with being injured), he aint going to get a sniff at this team. What a div. Our best moments as a club in recent times are ahead. Surely if he's an Evertonian, he'd see that as the challenge? He could become an absolute legend here with the right mindset. Poor advice and I think poor private life decisions both play a part. Romey 1878, markjazzbassist, Elston Gunnn and 2 others

Pure and simple. If he runs his contract down to the end then he will likely get a bigger signing on fee too. Sibdane
I hate to see him go this way, but hopefully he goes soon so we do get a fee. Thanks for the good moments, Ross, even if there weren't enough of them.
