Romey 1878
£30m off the debt!? That's huge! It's just a pity it still probably means we'll have nothing to spend this summer . Unless the Rodwell money hasn't gone towards this small clearing of debt and Moyes will get it.
Matt
£30m off the debt!? That's huge! I read that as 30m as the remaining debt. 15m is still a good lump off too!
Bailey
Good to hear we are starting to get a grip of the debt. Very positive news as far as I am concerned. Madmatt
Louis
It's not as straight forward as that.. this is good news but it's difficult to calculate how much was paid off. I calculated that the four mortgages involved around 58m(!) being borrowed against, that's not necessarily debt. I imagine that we'll sell Rodwell, use some money for transfers (spread over duration of incoming players' contracts), the rest of the money will be used for cashflow. The club are now free of all but the major mortgage (the one that's secured against Goodison for 25 years),as of next season the Premier League income will double so it'll be plain sailing and the finances look a lot better.. What is interesting,is that the fourth mortgage listed that was paid off was actually borrowed against this season (2012/13)'s money which won't be paid for another year, yet has been paid off last week. Romey 1878
Very positive indeed. I'd be over the moon with us on an even keel, not needing to borrow to pay off debts. Lowensda
StevO
That would be a damn good start, then try to make a profit to invest back in the squad and the ground.
