StevO
I find that a little difficult to comprehend. The world is in financial meltdown and you honestly think that has helped? Companies are folding by the day and you think that is the kind of enviroment that makes it easy to attract investment?? I know plenty of people who have been layed off and so havent been able to afford to renew their season tickets and that has obviously benefited the club! Look at the assets on the pitch, if we were to sell Felli, Jags, Rodwell, Baines, Arteta, Howard, Barkely and Coleman tomorrow would you still say that we are worse off financially than under Johnson? BK could have left the squad at the same standard as when he took over but we would probably be getting ready to kick off the new season tomorrow against the likes of Oldham or Stockport County my point about it helping us is that we have had to stop increaseing the debt. which i did state quite clearly. if the banks came knocking when johnson was at the club, finding £10m wasnt difficult has the club had land/property to clear it as well as on field assets. the club now only has onfield assets as everything else has been sold. if the banks come knocking now it would take probably rodwell arteta and baines at least to clear the debt. this would leave us with a much worse squad and no off field assets. if the club continues to not improve the team and find no new way of finding cash for the banks (no assets left other than players now) then next season we could be playing oldham or stockport after fighting off administration. Louis
Liverpool Echo say we are priced out of a free transfer move for Joey Barton. That won't go down well. It does make me wonder who'd have been sold so that Pienaar's 55k wage offer could be afforded should he have accepted it.

duncanmckenzieismagic
No offence Dunc, you are missing the point entirely. The players that you mentioned were acquired by moyes being unbelievably astute and from youth production. It has absolutely nothing to do with kenwright and debt. Fellaini is being payed for on the drip, and the Johnson and McFadden sales secured the money for him. Are you actually saying that we need to be grateful to kenwright for not cashing in on these players? Even he Is not that stupid. The risk of moyes walking out and the fans truly turning against him makes that a ridiculous scenario. Look at Ashley at Newcastle, if he carries on he will never be able to set foot in st James park again. The reality is, moyes has papered over the cracks that is the everton board. If you gave your mrs £20 to provide food and drink for a party of 10 people, would you be strutting round taking credit for the feast she managed to miraculously put together? And where did the monet come from for Johnson and Mcfadden? Im not saying we should be grateful that he hasnt cashed in on them, Im saying we should be grateful that he bought them in the first place. You are complaining that BK has increased the debt and Im just trying to point out that the debt has risen due to the fact we have a vastly improved squad who are on a lot more money. Bk has sanctioned deals that smashed our transfer record 3 times now You say that the club was worth £10M under Johnson, Im saying we have ten times that amount of money on the pitch If selling the clubs off field assets was the only way we could have aquired the squad we have now and hence saved us from relegation then Im happy they were sold

Peter H
I feel silly for actually entering a discussion on this, but in my opinion Zlatan Ibrahimovic has got everything you can ask from a striker. He's tall and powerful and can play with his back towards the opposition's goal and keep hold of the ball. If his team mates play a long ball he can win the aerial duel. He's got an incredibly powerful strike on goal. He's creative and has got fantastic ability on the ball. Plus he's an entertainer: Stats don't lie either I guess. 16 goals and 9 assists in 29 La Liga games (a goal every 127 minutes) and 94 goals and 41 assists in 187 Serie A games (a goal every 159 minutes). Another interesting piece of trivia: he's been league champion with whatever club he's been at 9 times and for 8 years straight now (though he's lost two titles due to Calciopoli scandal that stripped Juventus of two titles). Thank you, i agree. Although i might be biased as im swedish, but i think that Ibra is one of the best strikers Edited August 5, 2011 by Peter H
duncanmckenzieismagic
are you happy at the financial danger we are in? Of cause Im not. As has been stated there is nothing left to sell other than the players and that is obviously not a healthy position to be in. I said this time last year that the club was in big trouble but everyone in here started getting on my case for being too negative because most people in here got too carried away with the entire "best squad in years , we're going to crack the top 4" hype Im as aware as anyone that at the moment we cant afford to replace the likes of Neville, Distin and Howard. What Im trying to get accross is for all the people complaining that we have sold all the assets , what would you rather we had done? Yes we could have kept Finch Farm and all the other off field assets but we would more than likely be playing in the Championship or lower and be in even more trouble financialy without all the Premiership money
StevO
I just wish the search for investment/new buyer would have started 11 years ago. I'm sure bill said he would look after the club short term, but I also wish I hit the lotto but can't do much about that either.
Hafnia
The scary thing is we do not know the real truth regarding the ownership of the club. Is Robert earl a front for philip green? Is he In fact the real owner? Was he the driving force behind the retail complex known as DK? Which was in reality a property scam that would have seen our club dumped in a second rate stadium? All conjecture unless we get done serious panorama style investigation.

Glad you finally admit all your views and opinions are based on nothing. Getting somewhere now. Now all we need to do is work on your plan for the future of Everton which is built on the mediocre, standing still, not winning the league, stagnation and absolutely no ambition above moving the club up a few places in the league ! Louis
We do know the legal ownership of the club.. This article is old, but worth a read if you haven't seen it. http://www.thisismon...ton-battle.html He left the board in December 2000, a year after True Blue Holdings became a majority owner in 1999. It caused speculation that Grantchester does not see eye to eye with Bill Kenwright because he left at the next available AGM. I think he is interested in football - he's a trustee of the Everton Collection for example, but his first love is Dairy farming.

A hypothesis/theory is assumed true until proven otherwise, as you can only absolutely* prove something is false. So any theory is true until proven otherwise. *A quick google and this words a bit strong as sometimes 2 theories may 'be' right, in which case the theory with the simplest explanation is taken. Dont get me wrong, he is probably brilliant in Spain or Italy where defenders give you about 5 yards of space to do what you want, but he has always looked average against teams that make him hussle. He has a cracking long shot on him, but if your touch tight he aint gunna get that shot away. If he came over here I would bet he would only get 10-12 goals a season, which isnt bad but not world class. I did wonder what you were getting at with the transfers link! I will refer back to my earlier comment when Bill took over our top player was probably on approx £15k a week now we have Arteta on £70k a week. The net spend may well be negligible but the figures are somewhat distorted by the Rooney and Lescott transfer fees. How much money per week were those 2 players on compared to the combined salaries of Bily, Johhny H, Distin, Beattie, Cahill etc , thats where all the money goes on player wages BK is by no means beyond critisicm but I just feel that he does not deserve the abuse that is being levelled at him by you. Even if you arent just singling him out I feel its ludicrous to completely ignore the part that was played by Peter Johnson in Evertons demise One thing I will add about the wage increase, is that dont forget how much more money we now get through sky and sponsorship, I would conject that a large increase in wages during this time would be mainly down to the equally large increase in sky tv and league money. If you base you're opinion on items that have no evidence and no facts, you're opinion is based on nothing. Dress up your guff however you like.
