chongli
Don't let me hope they'll get a legitimate young player.

Lowensda
Same. Really can't see it happening but if (and thats one major IF), i'd hope that they'd put a view to permanent or a clause in that states IF we get into Europe (being an optimist today) then he can stay etc? SimonButtle
if it did happen it would be one of Moyes best signings to date, even as a loan, but i can't see it myself, fingers and legs crossed now everyone

marcus jones
Do not get me wrong, he sounds like a good player but is that it? A loan deal here and there, maybe some 16 year old from some obscure part of eastern europe and a free from a championship side? Damned! The Regulator
Do not get me wrong, he sounds like a good player but is that it? A loan deal here and there, maybe some 16 year old from some obscure part of eastern europe and a free from a championship side? Damned! This is how it always is, one of three things will happen this summer: 1) We sell a few players (Yak, Yobo etc) and take that small amount of money towards one or maybe two players of the same quality but maybe a few years younger, with a bit more potential. 2) We sell a big player (Fellaini, Rodwell, Baines) for enough money that we can buy 3 or 4 players of decent ability. 3) We do neither in which case we may receive towards the end of the window a random injection of cash to buy 1 half-decent player to go with a couple of free/loan players and we have to make do. Probably get Donovan on loan in Jan to give fans a bit of hope, but ultimately no more than that. Why does anybody expect any more than these 3 very generous scenarios given our history? We have to sell to buy, and we have bought more youth or youthful players than oldies and so clearly Moyes is doing his best to build a continuing squad throughout Evertons' ranks. Best case we end up like arsenal near the top but never achieving anything, worst case we end up like Birmingham winning a cup and then going down. The likely balance will be we end up around 7th or 8th and hope that a situation presents itself whereby getting 7th will get us Europe. Maybe then we can slowly build. Or until we get investment, let's just hope Dreamboats and Petticoats is a smash and generates a bit of revenue Edited July 14, 2011 by The Regulator

Or until we get investment, let's just hope Dreamboats and Petticoats is a smash and generates a bit of revenue Achieving what arsenal does takes money, are you saying they haven't spent much? Relative to their income it's a small amount but compared to everyone else they aren't lagging as such. In the last 5 years they have spent £100m. They turn over their talent when they decide and at their price, we are held to ransom. The 3 scenarios are unacceptable and will end up with us sooner or later being relegated. Average age of the squad is increasing, the valuable assets are those players 27 or under who are the only ones who could generate cash. Every David moyes signing doesn't increase in value - they are not all lescotts.. Look at Billy, distin and heitinga. All bought with the lescott money, only one is a first team regular and he has no sell on value and will retire in next two years. Billy is prob worth half what we paid for him. Heitinga - who knows same value we paid I guess. The fact is that cumulatively these players earn approx £150k a week between them and only one is getting regular games. You can't build a model on selling your best players, look at west ham. Transfer activity is not necessarily a requirement each and every window, but the option needs to be there for the manager to strengthen the squad as and when required, we have that need but do not have the option. For the 3 scenarios you rightly declared we are stuck with to be removed, it is highly likely that a change of ownership is the only solution. JoeQuince
Linked again in Marca. msloan78
If he's available for as little as £4m, why even bother with a loan. Almost a certainty that we'd make our money back if it didn't work out, however if he's as highly rated as I think he is there will be others sniffing round at that price. Think it says in the report that the Spanish options aren't appealing to him and with us having a Spanish manager I'd say that would put us in a very strong position if he wants to test himself in the prem anyway. Guest
When he signed for Madrid he was a potential superstar. £ 4 mill? You can't get a championship midfielder for that. Get him in quick
Quinn31
He's an attacking mid. WHat are you guys thinking, Barkley might lose a minute of game time if we bring in this highly touted young player. Matt

MC11
Need a more central player in terms of ability to drop in defensively to. I'd have him but as said Barkley has the AM nailed down and I wouldn't want it another way, local young Evertonian.
