Louis
http://www.keioc.net/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=344&cntnt01returnid=15 In other news Everton has been given three months to put forward a proposal for the Stonebridge Cross development in Croxteth. Now we’re no experts but our advice is free and extremely accurate; don’t bother, it’s a worse location than Kirkby, in relation to the long term prosperity of the club, and, due to Sainsburys being the prospective anchor and enabler, will attract considerable objection from nearby Knowsley, who, rather ironically, successfully prevented Tesco from building on that very site due to its proximity to Kirkby Town Centre. MikeO
How can Croxteth be a worse location than Kirkby for an organisation whose raison d'être is ostensibly K(ing)EIOC ? The more worrying thing is the suggestion that the new car-park plan has been abandoned because we won't need it as the Park End development ain't going to happen . Louis
Seemingly the man from the Pru' has said no to new development. I think Croxteth is a pretty poor location. It was dismissed in 2001/02 in favour of King's Dock.
Lowensda
2nd best for a project that didn't go ahead. amazing! Surely, some land around the city must be screaming to house the club. Ok it brings its own traffic and stuff, but is Croxteth the best option? or is a case of only option?
rubecula
Surely there is room along the East Lancs inside the M57? Inside the city, on the same route into the city as GP, on a dual carriageway with lots of access. Public transport is available nearby. Just a thought. Everton_Worshiper
How can Croxteth be a worse location than Kirkby for an organisation whose raison d'être is ostensibly K(ing)EIOC ? Spot on Mike. Never liked them as an organisation, never will. Anyway, no quotes/sources to say Everton instigated anything, sounds like Sainsburys want to be there and looking for an enabler. smeghead1
Strange really that land in Croxteth by the East Lancs cant be more than 5 miles at the very most from Kirkby, i drive past there quite a bit and they appear to be trying to spruce the area up a bit wonder what help Sainsbury are willing to give? StevO
Didn't realise that was the site, would be ideal for me. Is that opposite where the new road has gone in between carcraft and the bp garage?
smeghead1
Didn't realise that was the site, would be ideal for me. Is that opposite where the new road has gone in between carcraft and the bp garage? Thats the site Steve0 it runs alongside the East Lancs. The only downside i can think off is its a hike to any railway station. Edited May 20, 2011 by smeghead1
Matt
sounds like a sensible proposal but looks quite far out of the city
Lowensda
It just means we'll be more like Bolton!? Good site, just as others said but a bit far out...
