If we can get that spark that he used to have back then he could be a kep player for us for the rest of the season. Everyone says he's useless, unfit, crap ect but he hasn't really had a chance to play first team football for a while. Maybe after a few games he might supprise us and grab himself a few goals. scouse
He hasnt played first team football because he is never fit! imagine him and Saha upfront!! no for me....
FairWooney
Owen and Saha up front would be a nightmare for our physio! Why give money we don't have to someone who's not going to be fit? Despite losing some of his pace he is still a top finisher in the box but I just couldn't condone us bringing in a player who is unlikely to stay fit. Bailey
If we werent going to pay anything I would say yes. However, looking at the way we set up and play, he wouldnt be suited to us. Beckford plays in a similar fashion and he doesnt get game time and while Cahill is about we only start with one out and out striker. Romey 1878
I'm sick to fucking death of us moving for strikers who can't play the lone man upfront. If Moyes is going to persist with the 451 then buy a fucking striker who can play the role FFS. Rant over .
scouse
or just give Yak a decent run in the team, he can play that role..
Romey 1878
or just give Yak a decent run in the team, he can play that role.. That is exactly what I've been praying for this season, but it doesn't look like Yak is in Moyes' plans.

Hafnia
We can't give our strikers service, what good will Owen do? He can't score outside 10 yards. Besides the overrated midget made a point of letting it be known he rejected us. Edited January 4, 2011 by Hafnia2
toffeeboy
hi all, If Owen cannot get a game at United I say give him a try but and it's a big but; can Moyesey try and do something different (like try the very frightening oooooh should we shouldnt we 4-4-2!!)? Strikers do not get any confidence playing alone up front and we cannot afford a top class striker who is banging in goals for fun! A better bet would be trying to get hold of someone young and a bit different like Bothroyd and playing him alongside a more experienced striker such as Saha or the Yak...but oh yeah that would be too risky for mr moyes 2 upfront wouldnt it! Come on Moyesey try Becks and the Yak on sat vs. scunny they are very dodgy at the back . It would be a great chance for Becks at an old haunt!!! Guest blueboy122
Boothroyd? Id rather die. I agree with you Romey having seen some of your previous posts, Yakubu is ideal to play as the lone man. However he isnt in with moyes for some reason so who do you think can play the lone front man? Someone like John Carew?

Romey 1878
Thanks Mike, I actually managed to read the whole post that time! Boothroyd isn't young or anything different. He's a bag of shite.
Jimmy the blue
If Macheda is going on loan to Sampadoria SAF won't let Owen go thank God, he'll be needed as fourth cover for Utd's strike force, breathes sigh of relief having read Owens sell by date 1/05/2006
Louis
Boothroyd is 28 isn't he? I'd like to see Owen given a chance to be honest.. come February we can have Owen and Nugent up front.
