rubecula
Lets look on the bright side. Ummmmmm errrrr I know, now that we haven't got the WC the tax payers (you and me) won't have to foot the bill so soon after the Olympics. Well every cloud has a silver lining, in this case it is a steel box of sh*t coming straight out of the blue.

Romey 1878
Why is it disgusting? i wasn't happy when i heard it would be Russia, but now i'm at peace with it. the argument that eastern europe never had one before is quite valid if you ask me (ofcourse that was probably not the reason why russia got it). You've already answered your own question. I wouldn't expect you to understand seeing as your country had absolutely no hope of winning. holystove
I wouldn't expect you to understand seeing as your country had absolutely no hope of winning. We did manage to last one round more than England, and got more than twice the votes you did .
Romey 1878
We did manage to last one round more than England, and got more than twice the votes you did . Damn, my attempt at winding you up failed miserably . True, and that's why the whole thing is fucked up. There's no chance your bid was better than the England bid. Louis
But Belgium shared their bid with Netherlands.. so your total number of votes should be shared by half Geoff Thompson (English) was one of the people who voted for England's bid. The Japanese guy is said to have been the other.
holystove
Any plans of a 2020 Euro Cup Bid? Quality of that tournament is just as good, if not better because you don't have first round games with countries like Trinidad&Tobago and basically you're only missing Argentina and Brazil. UEFA isn't as corrupt, or wrong-motive-driven, as FIFA.
MikeO
Any plans of a 2020 Euro Cup Bid? We only had it in '96 so no chance of that I think.
MikeO
Interesting insight. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/how-englands-bid-unravelled-in-24-hours-of-doubledealing-2150855.html
holystove
Interesting insight. I disagree. Interesting would be if the journalist could back it up with a little more facts (such as quotes etc...). But he starts every sentence with "There are suggestions that ..." or " ... is thought to be ...", ... . Could only roll my eyes when I read this : "The US president Barack Obama says Fifa made "the wrong decision". Coming from the leader of the free world it is a damning indictment of the notoriously sensitive governing body." .. damning indeed . Matt
We only had it in '96 so no chance of that I think. US had the World cup in 94 and they were campaigning for the WC too. No reason why we cant
