MikeO
Going to get Josh a new one for Christmas but I really don't know much about the latest ones (controversially I use my aged one only for making telephone calls ). Don't want to spend a fortune but I want to get him something quite clever and thought of this. Decent? Or anyone know of a good place for bargains? You were all very helpful when I got him an MP4 so I thought I'd tap into the huge techno-knowledge pool that is TT for help once again . dark
My LG Cookie has never let me down It's not the newest of the new but it's not old either meaning that the price is reasonable. Touch screen and it's perfect for making telephone calls!
iggy
Whilst it's not exactly an iphone I do know several (happy) people who own one, this site gives you a good idea on latest prices for contract and PAYG. http://www.best-mobile-contracts.co.uk/phones/LG-GS290.aspx

Found this one via that site Iggy which looks decent also . Came across this reading the reviews which made me laugh... "Stylish and good loking, the qwerty keyboard makes tecting so much easier..." Romey 1878
Go for it on o2, they're a much better network than Vodafone.
Bill
This is the best deal on that site, a phone just to use as a phone. If you want a music centre or a Computer get something else, but this is a good phone and has a few decent features, its well worth the money. http://www.mobiles2yourdoor.co.uk/OfferDetails.asp?ITK=15&ItemKey=272893&NetKey=
Romey 1878
He's getting it for Josh though, Bill, and Josh is gonna want it to be cool . Edited October 25, 2010 by Romey 1878
MikeO
He's getting it for Josh though, Bill, and Josh is gonna want it to be cool . Exactly....I'd happily have one of those for myself though Bill (my current one was a bit of an extravagance at £17.95).

Yeah I'm the same, i spent about £20 quid on a cheap LG a couple of years ago so i might upgrade to that E1120, or i might go mad and treat myself to the E1170 for £7.95 with a choice of network providers. And delivered to your door.
Kohen
How often does Josh use the phone Mike? Avg texts/phone calls a month (roughly)?
MikeO
How often does Josh use the phone Mike? Avg texts/phone calls a month (roughly)? Very little (as a phone) at the moment but I'm guessing it'll increase in the near future as he gets more independent and starts doing stuff for himself....he's more of a gadget freak at the mo so extras are quite important (camera, video, mp3/4, games etc). Mine's an LG as well Bill, top it up by about £5 every three or four months .
dark
Get him on o2 if he's not already. For just £15 a month he'll get unlimited calls and texts to all o2 users which comes in handy because the vast majority of people I know are with them rather than shite companies like Orange and Vodafone. MikeO
Not got one yet... This looks maybe better than some of the others....5mp camera (with flash) is impressive.
iggy
Mike, this site (Revoo) can be quite good in helping you make up your mind, the reviews are by people who actually own the things and are not from some marketing department! http://www.reevoo.com/p/lg-ku990-viewty-lite/page/1#review_854050
MikeO
Thanks for that Iggy. The Viewty looks really good, my only concern is that it seems to be ridiculously low priced on Dial-a-Phone compared to anywhere else . Hmmmm....worried about paying too little? Has anyone used them?
MikeO
Answering my own question....best avoided I think... http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews75479.html
aaron
Blackberrys are the phones most younger people use, as well as older. I have a blackberry and I wont ever go back to a normal phone, got to be a smart phone for me.
Louis
You can get a Genio Touch or a Tocco Lite for under £60.. they're pretty good for the money. http://direct.tesco....R.207-6378.aspx Also if you're quick you could get a 16gb micro sd card for £16 from play.com In essence the phone would become a 16gb MP3 player for under £80. MikeO
Might get one of those for myself Louis . For Josh though I think we're going with the LG Viewty Snap from T-Mobile. 5 megapixel camera's the clincher....along with the wife spotting the £30 M&S voucher. MikeO
I'm opting for the Orange San Francisco I think. That looks good....gave it serious thought but went with the LG in the end because of the camera and the fact that Tesco's dropped the price to £69.95 . Matt
you sure Mike, found a bargain one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item1e60652ffc edit: ive got a reasonably new phone (only 6 months old) Song Ericsson something or other, not a smart phone but its alright. That was until monday when it suddenly decided that i can only here it with the hands free kit in or on loudspeaker. little bit pissed off. I really want a HTC or samsung galaxy thingy but just cant afford them. Edited December 16, 2010 by Matt

MikeO
The two Ronnies were great. Loved the "fork handles" sketch Can remember that being shown for the first time . Absolute classic. Two Ronnies were hit and miss for me....loved the sketches and Barker's bits but the musical numbers & Corbett's monologue did nothing for me. Was a Morcambe and Wise man (boy).
