My dad was a bit of an athlete....started when he did his national service just after WW2 when he realised if he ran for the army he could get out of doing proper soldier stuff. Was a bit good, running miles in about 4.05 well before the four minute barrier was broken, so I always watched it with him from when I was a kid.
