thoward18
Again, subtle things that don't necessarily promise anything, but still subtle things. Notice Landon's twitter bio: " US National Team, LA Galaxy and Everton soccer player. Proud American, Angelino, & Evertonian" The "Everton soccer player" is one thing. He's an alumni of the club and is proud of that I'm sure. But the fact that he considers himself an "Evertonian" is definitely meaningful. You have to think that, should it be true that he wants to continue his career but not in LA, that he's trying to move to Europe. And if he's trying to move to Europe, it's hard to imagine Everton not, at the absolute minimum, being a potential landing spot. Especially if Landon is forcing his way out of Los Angeles, the Galaxy are not going to play hardball; they're going to accomodate him as long as they receive a reasonable offer. I imagine that, should Moyes be willing to put the money up, it would take an absolutely incredible contract offer from another team or a team like Bayern or Man U offering him a starting job for us not to land him. Peter H
Has he got something to offer us? I loved him to bits when he was here. I could see him on the right or behind Jelavic. ..........Gibson.....Osman........... Mirallas.....Donovan........Pienaar ..................Jelavic.................... Left Fellaini out on purpose. I cant see Donovan fitting into the starting 11 if Felli is still at Everton. Would just be a backup for Mirallas.

I've said this before but the nice thing about Donovan is that you can play him pretty much anywhere (aside from defense or holding mid). He's most productive as a winger/outside mid but is also a perfectly good option as an attacking mid, delayed striker, or striker. And he's serviceable in the middle if necessary. Essentially, he could take the Naismith role but with more versatility and more starts.

mcirony
I think he would be useful to have around, he's good with dead balls and could give us some options at the very least. Plus he loves us and would work his arse off!
Matt
I'd rather have Donovan on the right than Naismith... fair point, would depend on how much he would cost us. I think he would be useful to have around, he's good with dead balls and could give us some options at the very least. Plus he loves us and would work his arse off! weve got 2 dead ball specialists as it is. I love Everton, does that mean I can pull on the jersey? I imagine he will cost us a fortune in wages, something we cant afford to do. Besides, Mirrallas is on his way back, where would he go? Bill
I'm with Matt on this, he was OK on his previous visits, but time waits for no man. I think he's past his best to be honest, and we wouldn't gain a lot by bringing him back. Romey 1878

I don't think he would be on a fortune, plus you know what I mean about his passion for the club there's no need to be pedantic about it! If he was free/cheap I'd like him here. If he was free/cheap I'd like him here. didnt mean to come across as pedantic. I was merely pointing out that there are many people who wouldve played their arses off but who were passed their best. I just dont think he'd bring anything. Just like I wouldnt bring Tim Cahill back.

I get the feeling Donovan has tied himself to the MLS until an age where he's going to find it hard to move on.
Quinn31
Honestly, I'd really like him to bite the bullet and finish out his MLS contract, then join us on a free next January or so... He'd be a great squad player at the least, and a better option off the bench/12th man than Naismith currently is.
Bailey
Id have him here is he was cheap because we need his type of quality in the final third.
StevO
For competition, and the sale of actually having a squad of players, comes in handy with injuries, we could do a lot worse. He wouldn't be on massive wages and shouldn't command a large transfer fee. If be happy if he came in. Quinn31
Hafnia
If have him over Naismith that's for sure, needs to be a free and £20-£30k a week otherwise I would sooner someone younger.
Fearthainn
Still fuming after tonight's match but I hope he comes back. He's probably still better than half our attacking players at the moment.
Avinalaff
This is one thread the mods have my full backing to close. It's time to let the guy move on. I don't know which is more annoying between our current form and our desperation to sign 'anybody'.

scouse
at first i didnt want this to happen, however given our lack of squad, Mirallas injuries and Jelavic's loss of goalscoring form i think he would be a good addition to our squad. Think his Bio was never changed from the first time he joined us so I wouldnt read into that to much,

mcirony
People think we don't need him because of Mirallas, but seem to forget that Mirallas has spent 12 weeks out and there's nothing to suggest it won't recur ie Gibbo. If he's free/cheap it's surely a better option than Naismith.

Mirallas isn't a natural Right sided player, just as funnily enough Pienaar isn't a Left sided player if I remember correctly.

It's like a rite of passage into the team for every player, right bloody wing.
