chongli
Not terribly young, but has been quite solid in the world cup performances I've seen.
Matt
World cup opposition for them have hardly been testing. At 31 i see no advantage here, no matter how cheap he is.

If hes good and we can get three or four years out of him i dont see why not, we've had a few aging centre half's doing a good job for us in the past 10 years. I can remember two Scots and an Englishman (who is still at the club) playing on till they were 35 or more.

Anybody going for a couple of brownie points by naming the Englishman.??

iggy
Waggy was the wrong side of 35 when he finished playing too.
Bill
I think Centre Half is a fairly easy position to play for the aging professional, thats why i say if hes good enough and we can get 3 or 4 years out of him, £2 million is not a lot to pay. Bill
Stubbsy was always short of pace but still took care of the business, i think centre half is more of a positional thing, pace helps but its not just pace that makes a good centre back. holystove
Has signed a 3 year contract with Wolfsburg. http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.standaard.be%2Fartikel%2Fdetail.aspx%3Fartikelid%3DDMF20100702_060&sl=nl&tl=en Wouldn't have wanted him at Everton tbh.
