Louis
I've never even heard of the list so it can't be that much of an accolade?
MikeO
I've never even heard of the list so it can't be that much of an accolade? Been published every year since 1849 Louis, huge heavy lump of a thing but interesting to browse. Bit redundant now (what with t'net) but it used to be a good source of reference if you wanted to read up about someone in the public eye. "Subjects include peers, MPs, judges, very senior civil servants, and distinguished writers, actors, lawyers, scientists, researchers, and artists. Some (such as those holding a Professorial Chair at Oxford or Cambridge) are included automatically by virtue of their office; those in less hierarchical occupations are included at the discretion of the editors." Strange bit is that the people included pretty much write their own entry by answering a questionnaire from the publishers .
