Bill
I'd like to search for some old tracks to burn on to a CD, so i'm looking for some guidance on which is best to search for and then download. Imesh, Itunes, or any others that you peeps might think is ok. Would appreciate any replies.
marcopaulo
i like to use torrents personally and also soulseek for the odd obscure song cos ive never failed to find anythin on there
MikeO
If I decided to indulge in a bit of (scrupulously legal) file sharing I'd first download Bittorrent from here http://www.bittorrent-vista.com/en/uk and search for what I wanted here http://isohunt.com/. Never had heard of any problems on that . Amazing what obscure and long forgotten stuff you can find....apparently .
holystove
I use mIRC. Channel #mp3passion on Undernet. No upload and fast.
Bill
Not sure how that Bit Torrent thing works, i'm frightened of it. Anything simple that i can download and just search for tracks or artists. ??
MikeO
If you don't want to pay then LimeWire or Bearshare (http://www.bearshare.com/) are OK. Used both in the past and preferred BS. Lots of adware though. If you don't mind paying and are a law abiding citizen then I'd use iTunes http://www.apple.com/downloads/. I use it as default player and buy stuff occasionally....much prefer it to Windows Media or RealPlayer. What music are you looking for Bill btw? Anything simple that i can download and just search for tracks or artists. ?? download music with google or subscribe to http://www.warez-bb.org/ with those 2 you can download music withouth even dowloading a program. Soulseek and torrents are useful to; i would look out with bearshare, had some problems with that in the past.
marcopaulo
or if you're just after listenin to music use Grooveshark you can listen to full albums has most songs ever really and no download or sign up fee just choose a username and password and away ya go saves the hassle of saving songs i use it quite often nowadays
MikeO
...i would look out with bearshare, had some problems with that in the past. Never had a problem with it....as long as I avoided the....ahem...grown-up section .
Romey 1878
If you just want to download for single mp3's without needing to download a program then go to filestube.com, change the search option to mp3 and type in what you want. I use that, Limewire and Strike Gently.

MikeO
Or is there. ??? Bit traditional Bill but you could just buy it . http://www.sendit.com/cd/david-alexander/reflections/6429271.html?affil=BUYAT http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=Reflections+David+Alexander&_armrs=1&_dmd=1&_from=&_ipg= http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00004IC9V/ref=asc_df_B00004IC9V452407/?tag=ciaouk-music-mp-21&creative=7966&creativeASIN=B00004IC9V&linkCode=asn
Bill
Yeah Mike, while i was searching for all the tracks on it i came across the CD, i suppose its easy enough to get hold of, so i might just spend a tenner buying it. Thanks to everybody for all the replies, i tried Bearshare and it wouldnt burn onto a cd, then i lost the tracks. And now i cant get rid of that stupid toolbar. I also tried Imesh but the tracks i downloaded werent the tracks they said they were, some were by other artists, and some were Karaoke type with no singer at all. Wasted my time. Any more worth trying for. ??
Romey 1878
You can use filestube.com for albums too, just change the search option to zip or rar. But if you download a rar file you'll have to get a program that converts it to a zip, but it only takes a few seconds. I rarely use the P2P programs like Limewire now coz of filestube. Or you could use WinRAR which opens every compressed file type including RAR's and Zips
