Noddy
Disastrous stuff. Get well soon. I'm sure he'll be back sooner rather than later. He is very young after all.
trueblue63
Poor Ross Barkley. I heard he is expected to be out 8 months, which is a lifetime at this age. Hopefully he will be mentally strong enough to overcome this. Maybe Hallam Hope will get an earlier chance as a result. Sometimes there is a silver lining. trueblue63
Isn't Hope a striker? Are you saying the first team don't need a good one?? :-) There's only so much room on the bench for rookies, is my point.

No, I'm not saying that. But Barkley is a midfielder who was only keeping another midfielder's seat warm on the bench (Rodwell's), so if another youth player was going to come and warm the bench then it'd make sense for that player to be a midfielder too. flaminfox
Any news on Barkley? Couldn't find anything and I was wondering how he is doing. Edited March 16, 2011 by the_everton_way
Lowensda
This is an interesting quote from GOT, its an exclusive interview with TC, very insightful for Ross - GOT: Who, in your opinion, is the most talented footballer you´ve ever worked with? Tim: Ross Barkley at Everton is a special talent. He has been unlucky this season with his injury but he is an immense player with a great attitude to football. He is so mature for his age and I think he is going to be a massive asset to Everton and [the city] Liverpool in years to come. I have been lucky enough to have played with some great players in my career but I do not think I have ever seen a talent like Ross.
Louis
GOT? You traitor. How could you? I've not seen Barkley but he seems to be getting more hype than anybody, even Rodwell.

BlueBlood81
Does anyone know what's going on with Garbutt's contract? Says it runs out this month on the OS.
Avinalaff
Does anyone know what's going on with Garbutt's contract? Says it runs out this month on the OS. I mentioned this myself. I can only presume he will leave on a free like Gosling, if our 'club never learns' history is anything to go by, as they seem to have forgotten about his contract ha ha. Romey 1878
Which would be an idiotic move considering the massive effort we made to sign him!
BlueBlood81
We spent a few quid on him as well if memory serves. Better not let him go a la Gosling!
Bainaar
I'm sure Alan Irvine and Alan Stubbs will inform Martinez of his progress and suggest his contract gets renewed plus Martinez will be watching him when he plays in the u20 World Cup. It would be a loss because he's a good prospect and looked good when he played against leyton orient last year

Romey 1878
Garbutt's gone on loan to Colchester for a month.
Quinn31
League One? Hmm, not sure what that says about him.. However I'm sure we wanted to loan him somewhere where we knew he'd get time, since 2nd choice fullbacks don't feature as often as say, 2nd choice strikers or midfielders. Vranny
Bristol City Colchester match from a a bit over a week ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkAUaoNaHAo Put in a decent cross for their first, but was in no-mans land for the equaliser. Got beaten and caught out of position a couple of times in these highlights too, but hopefully we see some continued defensive improvement with more game time. SmashedCrab
Garbutts apparently played a blinder in the FA cup against Sheff Utd. Whipped in a Baines like ball for the first and a fantastic touch and finish for the second!

Romey 1878
I hope he stays there all season, develops his game, comes back in the summer and Martinez has a good look at him during pre-season because our LB spot will be up for grabs and I'd love to have a youngster there who will make that spot his own for years to come.
