EFC-Paul
We do all realise 20m + Welbeck is never ever going to happen, right? Sadly yes as I do think Welbeck is going to be a decent striker for both club and country in the near future so will fetch a hefty price.I'd take Pogba in a deal with them but I'd be suprised if they would let him go. Avinalaff
I'm not convinced Ferguson would consider Rodwell ready for a first team place in one of the worlds top sides. He's a good player, but he's not world class by a long shot.

I'm not sure I agree with that mate Fletcher O'shea and other's are not World class players but good work horses and reliable and I think Rodwell is as good as those in that respect and better in most/all other area's.I do think He'd fit in very well at United in all honesty but I'd love to keep hold of both him and Ross and build around them. Matt
he'd be a good fit at Utd. As Avin says, hes not world class but he would be surrounded by world class players (and crap players like Carrick, so he learns what not to do!) and he is young enough to develop into a very good player. Not sure he is ever going to be a world class player but he has the potential to be close. Only if we get silly money though. Him Felli and Barkely have to be our spine for the next 5 years. Weren't both Fletcher and O'shea United academy players? When it comes to hard cash, I think neither would have been on Fergusons 'dream team' shopping list, despite both having a great time at United. How would Rodwell compare to the following list of seasoned defensive midfielders? Michael Essien Xabi Alonso Daniele De Rossi Javier Mascherano Esteban Cambiasso Sergio Busquettes Alexandre Song Nigel De Jong Mark Van Bommel Tiago Motta Lassana Diarra Filipe Melo Eva Banega Javi Martinez Alou Diarra John Obi Mikel Marouanne Fellaini Sami Kheidra Javier Zanetti Jeremy Toulalan Yaya Toure Marcos Senna Lucas Leiva (yes I know)

He does have some way to go but I believe he's on the right road now, seems to have gained more confidence and belief that he belongs on the pitch and is an international level player. StevO
I think if Rodwell went to United they would play him every week, like they did with Rooney. I think he would improve as a player at a much faster rate too.
Hafnia
He would get in Chelsea's first 11 ahead of mikel, he would get in uniteds team. The only ones he would struggle is man city and spurs. He would get in arsenals too. It's just Parker and toure he would struggle to get ahead of. The point remains though.

Avinalaff
When you look at the defensive mids United have had in the past it's a pretty big responsibility. Scholes, Keene, Ince, Robson to name but a few. Remember Keene with his tunnel bust up?
EFC-Paul
He wouldn't suite any other teams style of play for Me other then United's
Romey 1878
Rodwell would comfortably get in the centre midfield slot at United. Their options there are pretty crap to say the least. You ask any one, United fans and fans of other clubs, and they'll all say it's central midfield where United are seriously lacking. United fans have been begging for Ferguson to buy a quality CM or two for at least the past year.
FanchesterCity
Rodwell would be a speculative investment, but every chance a smarter one in the long run for United. By 'speculative' I mean to say he's not totally proven yet - he's still young (when you compare with the likes of say, Sneider). But what United would be getting is the potential for a top class midfielder AND the benefit of many years, thanks to his age. Alas, I don't think United fans would be too forgiving if he didn't settle quickly (not so much forgiving of him, but of Fergie). They could quickly (indirectly) be on Rodwell's back if United started losing games etc, and questioning why they didn't go for a proven top name (not that there are many available!). That's not a dig at United fans, I think the same would happen at City, Spurs, Liverpool etc etc. Sadly for Everton, if there's a great talent in the team, the vultures will circle and make offers that are hard to turn down, and Rodwell is starting to gain a reputation as a future talent. pete0
Jones gets a game CM, Rodwell would walk into their team. £20 mil, Valencia or Park plus Walbeck would be a good deal. Potential £50 mil player, should be worth £30 mil in todays market but can see us getting financially fucked over, £15 mil plus Gibson and one other maybe a striker onloan or someone shit like Evans... and I will go cry in the corner
Peter H
Man U are interested in Real Madrids Özil and are preparing a bid for January according to Spanish El Mundo Deportivo. This would mean that Rodwell isnt his first choice.

No way will Real let Ozil go, he's one of their most prolific players, it would have to be for mega-bucks, i can't see man u paying out that sort of money in the january window Edited December 16, 2011 by theprisoner

Dont get me wrong, i think Jack will be a major force in english football but its a smarter investment to buy Özil. Hes not exactly old either and would fit right in at Man U.
