duncanmckenzieismagic
the positions can not be irrelevant in a counter attack, your players position in the formation should also dictate their position on the pitch when a counter happens. to look back at the counter attack on the vid above, its from a corner. our full backs man the posts from a corner, if they were to get on the counter they have the furthest to travel. your forwards, wingers are normally slightly further out, unless you have a mountain of a forward back defending, so they are closer to the break. look at the best counters and you will see not many defenders, mostly forwards and wingers. from your theory of the quickest players leading the counter, what if yobo plays, do you want him to come bombing from a centre back positon to run past his whole team? if it was possible with the players we have then it would happen more, but it doesnt. hence why we were more effective when donovan came over here, arsenal away in his debut, him and pienaar pushed the counter from the wings. Maybe we should play him on the right wing then!

StevO
If we're talking about counter attacking football, same three players, two brilliant goals. We'll never have this kind of counter-attacking quality without spending millions... that will be three examples if you look at the other one further up. The US national team's only real strategy was the counter-attack before Klinnsman, hence why Donovan added to that aspect of Everton's strategy. Romey 1878
Moses has said he'll sign for whoever bids the biggest, so that probably rules us out straight away. Edited June 21, 2012 by Romey 1878

chicagoblue
Shame, he would fit in well for us i reckon. A fair sight better than he will for Chelsea anyway. 10 to 1 he plays only cups and gets loaned out in January or in the summer and sold the next summer. Guest blueboy122
A fair sight better than he will for Chelsea anyway. 10 to 1 he plays only cups and gets loaned out in January or in the summer and sold the next summer. Alot of the Wigan fans dont rate him though which is funny.. You would just need to look at the comments on the skyports pages about him leaving and the wigan fans slating him. When I have seen him he has looked sharp but poor at the same time alot like Robben but obviously not in the same league. He has only had a few good runs and scored like 4 goals and they were all within the last 5 games for Wigan. His attitude also looks questionable as to the way he is treating Wigan. Sibdane
hulk and moses? de bruyne, marin, mata, hulk, hazard, maybe moses; they play sturridge on the wing as well. Okay, maybe not every winger. Edited June 22, 2012 by TonkaRoost
marcopaulo
wouldn't call mata a winger..just cos they play sturridge there he isn't one..is vic? also hazard i'd say is more of an attacking mid
Sibdane
wouldn't call mata a winger..just cos they play sturridge there he isn't one..is vic? also hazard i'd say is more of an attacking mid Vic isn't nor is Sturridge -- I can agree to that. On that same note, if the manager plays them there then the manager must think they have winger qualities even if it isn't their natural position (i.e. Bily was one of our "wingers" but never seemed to be his natural position). Still consider Mata and Hazard wingers though. Hazard especially since he always plays out wide for Belgium and split his time there at Lille. flaminfox
I never jumped on the moses bandwagon either, whenever I watched him he wasn't that good. I think we should be looking at more consistent players. and go anichebe go go go go!!!
Blue4Ever
not going to happen, for some reason Moyes likes him... are you joking thats why he's been kicking off ever since he first played because moyes hasnt ever give him a run of games moyes himself would sort the deal out for that kind of money 7/8 million would be great business 10 just isnt going to happen tho. Hafnia
Strange why we didn't sign him from palace, was pretty much a real deal then, I'm no scout either. But pace, power, skill and good technique. Two more attributes than Vic, one of the ones he shares he doesn't use - power.
