Steve_E
Because I just gave a link to the article and it doesn't mention Everton anywhere.
Churinga2
The original Belgian article (http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza/voetbal/Jupiler_Pro_League/110609_defour_spartak_moskou) doesn't even mention Everton. the english article didn't mention anything about everton aswell, it just called defour "everton target".. just like he was targetted by 250 other clubs in the past Will be interesting to see where he and Witsel end up.. Steve_E
The English article does say Everton are leading the chase: Reports in Belgium have suggested that David Moyes' side and Spartak Moscow are currently leading the chase for the Standard Liege midfielder, who is expected to leave the club this summer. While reports in Belgium only say something about Spartak Moscow.

2i0
i said it somewhere else, if we have money to sign players, we have money to tie Pienaar down to a contract... Pienaar, you'll regret, left us!! Tottenham will not get European competition because they' ll sell Modric, Bale, etc. back to us lady. Steve_E
Defour and Moutinho in the same team after all Don't think he'll be a success there by the way. He's 23 now and not the player some saw in him 5 years ago. He isn't tall and strong, he isn't fast, he hasn't got a good long pass and he hasn't got a good shot on goal. Yesterday he gave his first decent corner for over a year. It is a shame we don't have any money though because all of Standard's good players have got promises from the board that they won't play it hard. They can all leave for any decent offer. Mangala has gone to Porto as well for 7 million euros. Witsel cost Benfica only 8 million euros. Now that's a shame that we couldn't offer 8mil for a player like that. And Standard have also accepted 9 million euro offers from Udinese and Anzhi for Carcela. Edited August 14, 2011 by Steve_E

Steve_E
How the hell did they manage to get £15million out of us for Fellaini? It's all very shady. Standard have been sold this summer. And the new board are only keeping to promises made by the former board. The former owner, Luciano D'Onofrio, had made promises that they were all allowed to leave for some reason. D'Onofrio is a very shady figure. He used to be Porto's director of football in the 80's and he used to be an agent (he used to be the agent of Zidane, Deschamps, Desailly, Henry...). He's actually been convicted for fraud in France (the Bernard Tapie/Marseille-case in 1997, in 1998 for receiving illegal commissions for a couple of PSG's transfers and again in 1999 because of his vague role as an intermediary in some of Bordeaux's transfers). He's actually been forbidden to do anything football related in France. He's been accused for laundering money with Christophe Dugarry and Vitor Baia's transfers to Barcelona as well by Spanish authorities. The money he made by selling his shares in Standard has been seized by Belgian authorities. Also, Fellaini dumped his agent right before his transfer to Everton and D'Onofrio became his agent for that move. It's quite possible we didn't pay 15 mil for Fellaini but helped D'Onofrio launder some money Not that there's any proof, but you do get that reaction from rival fans sometimes. Some say he's now making money maneuvering all of those Standard players (Witsel, Defour, Mangala) to Portugal (where he used to be Porto's director of football, as I've said before). holystove
6m is absolutely ridiculous. there's only a couple of explanations i can think of ... one is Steve's analysis of D'Onofrio shady business .. second is that his injury history is a major concern for any team that wanted to sign him.. third that it was misreporterd : Porto bought two players from Standard - defour and mangela - and received 13m for the pair .. maybe it was 12 for defour (still low) and 1m for mangela . There was an offer from Spartak Moscow a few weeks ago, must have been at least double what Porto offered..

Mirallas
I think he'd sooner be on his way back to Belgium than to Milan. Rather have Cleverley. Naah, Defour is pretty underrated nowadays. He's one of those footballers that you an really rely on as a coach. Give him a task and he'll do it well. Great defensive midfielder. MC11
Wouldn't say he was a defensive midfielder like. He's got goals in his locker... Box to box.
Aidan
Gibson has a better goal to game ratio than defour... He's definetly not a box to box midfielder are you mad? Steve_E
I stand by what I said in post #220: Don't think he'll be a success there by the way. He's 23 now and not the player some saw in him 5 years ago. He isn't tall and strong, he isn't fast, he hasn't got a good long pass and he hasn't got a good shot on goal. Yesterday he gave his first decent corner for over a year. He's been a sub at Porto for three seasons now. If he wants to play consistently, he'll have to take a step back.
