Nidderdale W Yorkshire

Where are you actually staying Jim. ??? Been to that area several times. ;)

We've rented a mews cottage/house in the Pateley Bridge itself. I know bits of Wharfdale and Grassington. Harrogate is nice but I have never done Nidderdale itself mate. As I'm limited for walking any great distances I notrmally sit and paint while the boss takes Polly (our pooch) for a run. I am hoping to sketch at a place called Brinman Rocks is it, looks interesting for shadows and shapes

Brimham rocks is ok but thats all it is, huge rock formations. Are you a church and chapel man ? Fountains Abbey is on the Ripon Road on the way in, and Ripley Castle is in between Knaresboro and Pately Bridge.

Malham cove and Malham tarn are places you can sit and paint, you can also see one of the Viaducts on the Settle Railway from one of the many Viewpoints, and loads of little footpaths in that area, should be nice and relaxing for you Jim.

Have a nice time. :)
