MikeO
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/london_2012/13854492.stm Love this about Scotland... "...when the players were asked about it during our preparations for the friendly with Brazil in March, not one noted an interest." If any of them thought they had a cat in hells chance of making the team they'd be saying different....although probably not in the presence of the rest of the squad. pete0
I'd like to see a team similar to this, but can imagine it would be more like the 2nd team Camp Walker, Smalling, Duffy, Wallace Fletcher Coleman, Wilshire, Rodwell, Ramsey Bellamy Hart Walker, Evans, Terry, Baird Walcott, Ramsey, Henderson, Adam, Bale Carroll

Thought it would have jus went from their proper nationalities rather than the nation they play for.
Louis
Whoops! Thought it would have jus went from their proper nationalities rather than the nation they play for. Run! You'll upset people with that comment! Republic of Ireland is a proper nation! Coleman is from Donegal in the Republic, there's nothing British or Northern Irish about him. Duffy would have been eligible but has now played for ROI U21 so is unable to switch back to NI (and therefore Great Britain Olympic Team) under FIFA rules. It's probably fair to say that he feels more Irish than British/Northern Irish anyway so wouldn't want to switch. Personally, I would have liked to see the Olympic football tournament expanded so that more teams could play.

Knew that Duffy is from Derry (got a few friends from there and there abouts and they definitely class themselves as British) and jus always mistakenly thought Coleman was as well. T'is a silly rule that N.Irish and Rep.Irish can play for either; should either have a joint team or 2 separate with players only eligible to play for where they and/or their parents where born/raised. The 'pick an mix' they have atm is a farce of a rule that causes more problems than it solves.
The Beard
I haven't took that much interest in this topic, not the thread haha, but I can't see why some FA's are geting worked up about it. It's a British team representing Britain, surely no more needs explaining..........................oh go on tell me what I am missing.
