Bill
Things are going downhill fast at EFC the wisper is that Baines is on his way out to try and get some cash in.
Adam
Seen it in a newspaper and a few sites saying that Everton want rid as he is not good enough and looking at swapping him for Stephen Warnock
troy8
i find that very hard to believe. hes only been here 1 season and we've yet to see a lot of him. if he can stay uninjured this season will play an important role
DangerMouse
Ive seen it too but licker being licker puts a lovely negative twist to it... Bill
Ive seen it too but licker being licker puts a lovely negative twist to it... If hes not good enough fair enough....lets get shut.... Is there any other way to put it DangerMouse, It seems to me that having talented and pricy players sitting on the bench (AJ & Baines) is not the Everton way. In which case we will have the smallest squad in the prem ONCE AGAIN, with no chance of stepping up a level.
Inca85
This is the worst I've ever heard.... selling McFadden... selling AJ... selling Baines... are we selling the whole freakin' club!? Baines has only been here one year and has struggled with injuries. He will shine in due time! We don't need to trade players (Baines for Warnock)! We need new signings ASAP! EFCfanatic
Things are getting really worrying. Please let the club just come out and let us know what the fcuk is going on. howard pip yob jags lesscott art ossie rodwell pienaar cahill yak wud this be the team against blackburn as it stands? The bench doesn't bear thinking about! Edited August 1, 2008 by EFCfanatic
EvilG
I like Leighton left foot, he should be given chance to prove himself. He's young and can only improve. We should withhold judgement until he's had an injury free run.
gwladys
Again i reckon you should take this story with a pinch of salt. Some quarters are saying that we need to sell him becausde of the money some are saying that that Moyes wants to swap him with Warnock. You don't buy someone for 6 million and swap him for a kopite reject a year later without giving him chance to play for your team and prove yourself. Fozastuta
Baines hasnt even started and were rumoured to be getting rid, surely not. His injury record has been dismal, but he's one of the players i'm looking forward to seeing. As for Warnock, no thanks Baines will do nicely. DonKey
What a load of old crap! Baines has not had a real opportunity to show what he can do for us. Swap him for a RS reject.... Doubt it!!!
Josh Berno
This wont be true.. Well I hope it isn't. Baines hasn't even had an oppertunity to prove himself.
StevO
dont believe it at all. if anyone has everton tv, go on and find the interview with baines from the end of last season, he says he wasnt injured most of the times it was reported that he was. said he was always available for selection but for one reason or another he wasnt picked. hopefully it was because the little niggles just needed clearing up, but he said straight up he wasnt injured as much as made out

Bill
dont believe it at all. if anyone has everton tv, go on and find the interview with baines from the end of last season, he says he wasnt injured most of the times it was reported that he was. said he was always available for selection but for one reason or another he wasnt picked. hopefully it was because the little niggles just needed clearing up, but he said straight up he wasnt injured as much as made out A Sensible post, not always injured but Lescott played more at fullback than at centre half, Even Nuno was picked to play ahead of Baines in one or 2 games, and of course when your manager turns round and states that Lescott is the best left back in the country, THEN IT ALL ADDS CREEDENCE TO THIS RUMOUR. Baines is ok going forward, but his prime job is defending and he does't do that very well. Yet given a good run i still maintain he could be an England fullback. DangerMouse
seeing that interview id agree maybe....... then again if you want to sell him for say 5 - 6 mil you carnt come out and say "oh yea we are looking to sell because he's third choice" his price would just plummet... StevO
im pretty sure we'll still be seeing leighton in an everton shirt for a good few years yet
lawrietimson
I had heard that there was going to be a swap deal with warnock, but he then came out and said he was staying. I cant see him leaving us this season and I wouldnt be suprised if we saw more of him, even if it means lescott moving over to take a centre back role every now and then. Neil S
One of the reasons baines hasn't played as much is his size. DM has stated before that the side lacks 2 much height with him in the side and once we have a taller defensive midfielder he will play more

Bill
Sunderland have offered £6m for Warnock. I cant see DM wasting time chasing players we dont need, when we are desperate in other positions.

DangerMouse
My thinking was we could essentially "swap" Baines for Warnock and have a couple of millio0n in the bank to put up front for another transfer... But if keane has bid 6million for Warnock........ That pisses on my bonfire doesnt it
blueblood
Is the £6m bid by Keane in additino to the £5m he's bid for Baines as stated in another post? Hopefully if we want rid of Baines and make the right noises to Warnock, Baines can go to the North East and Warnock will come to us
