Louis
http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html Moyes thought he was going to have cash to spend this summer, but problems with Everton's ground move and financial issues with backers, means he will not have as much as he wanted. Selling Johnson is the best way to raise cash, although some of it would have to be spent on a replacement. Moyes likes the look of Sylvain Ebanks-Blake but thinks he is over-priced by Wolves at £5million. I've heard that Robert Earl and Philip Green are not going to help Kenwright with transfer funds if the stadium plan is called in. Earl wanted to bring a casino to Kirkby apparently and Green wanted to introduce his stores to the retail park. Both are non-starters if the plan goes to a public inquiry. I can't see the Kenwright-Woods-Earl-Wyness four piece being at the club this time next year unless something dramatic happens.
Romey 1878
Lets hope it forces BK's hand in selling up. One thing is for sure, he hasn't got the money to help us be where we need to be and has relied on other people and Sky bailing him out so he can keep hold of his toy. Randomness
he won't sell unless he'll make a profit, someone will probably have to pay over the odds, though surely the club's value would have gone up enough so that a pound for pound bid would be enough to release us from the hands of "blue bill"
StevO
he bought the club when efc had property, they now have little property left and bigger debts. i think he might struggle for profit, should get his money back at least

I think Kenwright would sell for a loss providing the right buyer came along, which is unlikely with Goodison as the ground. Catch 22 really as a new stadium might not be the right design/location but without it no good buyers will be interested. There are fans out there that will never be happy unless some yanks buy us out, plunge us into 'proper' debt and publicly squabble every week... Randy Lerner came along and I'd count him as a 'right buyer', Kenwright turned him away.
Everton_Worshiper
Randy Lerner came along and I'd count him as a 'right buyer', Kenwright turned him away. Complete guess and no substance. What if Lerner came knocking, Bill showed him the books & associated costs etc with Goodison and Lerner walked away based on that to Villa Park. MikeO
Been here before (many times) and it always polarises opinion but I have to say I'm with EW. Personally I have no doubt that BK would sell at a loss to the right person. Lerner was rumoured to be interested in us but I don't think there was ever any confirmation, and as he was apparently a Villa (and Fulham and Arsenal ) fan from his time at Cambridge Uni in the 80's they were probably always gonna get his money. Louis
I think it's irrelevent now to be honest although I have mixed feelings on it, Lerner was apparently interested because he was living near Chester at the time he was with MBNA and it was one of the closest top flight teams. According to various sources Lerner, Gaydamak and Shinawatra have all been interested. A consortium involving Paul Gregg and Lord Grantchester was turned down in 2004. In today's Daily Post there is a claim by Nick Smith in the Daily Post that the stadium being called in would restrict Moyes' funds in the transfer market. Whilst I'm not saying that the collapse of the stadium plans in Kirkby is a good thing for Moyes' immediate transfer funds (Earl and Green will walk away leaving Kenwright with no direct line to credit to fund player transfers). It geniune believe it will be better for the long term aspirations of the club. I also don't think suggesting that Moyes' will have less of funds because of the collapse of the stadium in the local press is correct especially without giving a reason. Everton_Worshiper
It wouldn't schock me to think Nick Smith is sympathetic with KEIOC etc and likes to plant that seed in the easily swayed Everton fans head that if the stadium does not go ahead we will be able to buy Ronaldhino, Ronaldo & Kaka - but then again I always look for conspiracy theories Edited June 24, 2008 by Everton_Worshiper
MikeO
Didn't know Lerner was involved with MBNA, he just plummeted in my estimation because they're a bunch of f'king crooks . ....and surely he was 100% right (if it's true) to turn down Shinawatra? The man's an embarrassment and a criminal and a megalomaniac....would anyone really want him here no matter how much money he brought with him? I wouldn't. Gregg surely no-one would want would they? Can't recall Gaydamak and can't be arsed to research it at the mo .

I'm struggling with it, the only outcome I can see and I've stated it in this thread.. without the stadium Kenwright won't have a credit line from Earl to purchase players. It's a short term problem with long term benefits. Mike.. With hindsight I would have preferred Gregg (businessman) / Grantchester (billionaire Evertonian!) combination. Everton_Worshiper
lol I stand corrected on Nick Smith With regards to no new stadium, no money....I am puzzled too. In a simplistic view on it, it should be the opposite - if new stadium no money as it is tied up in the stadium. However, as the board see the new stadium as a stabilizing factor for the club financial future I can see how funds (from reserves, new investment....) would become available as per any business. That said, I still do not really believe what is written about funds, like any story until you hear it from the horses mouth.....
Randomness
i know the FSF saga was to get gregg out but who bought him out and how was it done?
Louis
Nothing ever came of FSF. They were genuinely interested in taking over but 'apparently' Bill Kenwright used it as a vehicle to get rid off Paul Gregg. There was an email doing the rounds a while ago where a club insider admitted as such. Paul Gregg's shares were later sold to a company called BCR Sports, Robert Earl is the only person who is publicly known from BCR Sports. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...ton-421028.html Another involved with BCR Sports is Sir Philip Green: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/investing-and...mp;in_page_id=
