mizza
there has been alot of young everton players been let go.. i just dont wanna see that everytime we buy a player or wanna buy, he either been at everton when he was young and brought or just been let go.. we had plenty of players who has been at our club and now are top players, players such as robbie fowler carragher and gerrard were blues oh yes ian rush as well.. we also had to buy baines back he was a blue when he was a boy, this ray hall dont seem the right guy for this job, all these players have gone and done better things, when these players could have still been at everton, and save us alot of money. Blue 250
Never heard of Ray Hall!........Sure as hell have heard of Fowler, Owen, McManerman(was that his name, Skinny bloke with lots of hair)....ect!The fact they were Blues and were allowed to go to the other side isn't the main issue! The issue is how can raw talent not be spotted early, what ever colour they are and wherever they go, the fact is some coach fresh from a course, didn't think Fowler, Owen or Gerrard would make the grade

StevO
are you even sure ray hall was academy director ten years ago?
Louis
After first becoming an FA football development officer, Ray joined Everton to start his 17 year stretch at the Merseyside club. The Academy manager began as an Everton development officer before moving on as coach, head coach and finally the manager's post he fills today. Over the years Ray has seen the inception of the Academy and watched it grow from a small team of 6 to an army of 23 full-time and over 200 part-time staff. The youth programme evolved into the 'Everton Way' with the growth of the Academy, and with it, Ray has brought many young players through the ranks and into the Premiership. Wayne Rooney, Richard Dunne, Gavin McCann, Michael Ball and more recent graduates like Leon Osman, Tony Hibbert, Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan all joined the club as young boys and developed into national and international stars. http://www.soccerdreams.ca/content/view/19/33/lang,en/
Romey 1878
I thought Hall was supposed to be replaced LAST summer?
Louis
I did too. Apparently Paul Bennet was brought in from Crewe to replace him

Louis
No idea.... the official site isn't exactly helpful when it comes to the academy/scouting network.
trueblue63
No idea.... the official site isn't exactly helpful when it comes to the academy/scouting network. I don't believe that Ray Hall's position was under any threat in 2007. His 'claim to fame' is that he has headed up the organisation that has generated over £50m quids worth of sales of young players, including the obvious name, in the last 10 years of his presence at the Academy. That's not mentioning the players who are with the first team still. (Anichebe, Vaughn, Hibbert, Osman etc) Sure there have been some misses too (Jags, Barton etc) ... but that's football...
