Patterson has more than met my expectations so far this season. He was thrown right into the mix, playing 90 minutes each game, and has done well.

Thought he was poor yesterday, but you're going to get games like that from him while he learns and grows.
I'm more than prepared to accept that being the case because Coleman just isn't a first choice player and hasn't been for quite some time now.

Don’t base reliable information on what you’ve read on a forum - just read some of the tripe spouted on here!!!
Maupay has missed 10 league games for Brighton in the 3 seasons he’s been there - he’s in the final year of a contract he clearly wasn’t going to sign for whatever reason. Maybe he wasn’t going to be first choice this season - who knows? But, on the basis that he’s been a mainstay for the past 3 seasons, I doubt he’s slipped that far down the pecking order.

I know this probably isn't a popular thing to say, but I have no idea what he is trying to achieve with these players.
We have not obvious pattern of play apart from soak it up and counter attack. We have no width whatsoever in attack and the three forward players aren't good enough to play intricate football between themselves in a small area of the pitch surrounded by countless defenders.
Our two open play goals have come from long balls over the top. That is the level of football we are playing. It is quite literally all we have and it will dry up, especially when we play teams that defend deeper.
The difference between this and half decent football isn't a new striker either.
    Something needs to change.

I’m really finding it hard to understand why people think this is a bad signing. He seems just the right type of player to fit into Franks team.
We’re trying to change the mentality of the team from soft approach to battling and pressing.

Seems we need to change the fans mentality as well.

It is interesting.  I liked this point the most: “Maupay’s main game strength though might be his pressing. The man does simply not know when to stop running.”

Pleased and quietly excited. He could be what Naismith was to Lukaku; annoying, chasing everything, creating space, chipping in with important goals and freeing up DCL to use his speed and energy to get more. More a CF than a striker and we need that.

Just been browsing a Brighton forum to see what they think and they've quoted you on there and said...
"This one has hit the nail on the head though for me, and why I will miss Neal"

Buying a player just to replaced an injured player is just not a long term or effective plan. Buying a player if you need a stronger squad is.
Everton would have bought a striker whether DCL got injured or not, as would Newcastle.
We don’t know how many targets have been rejected over the last few months.
We know what has been leaked and who have actually signed, probably 1% of all of the transfer dealings that have gone on. We’ll never know the other 99%.
Getting wound up about it, when we really don’t have a clue, is just pointless. As is getting wound up about what another club has done.

Newcastle can kind of do what they want - no FFP to worry about for at least two or three years, and have the richest owners in world football - we have to watch every penny we spend at the moment.

He's better, much better, than Rondon.
Usually I'm not one to be happy with signing someone just because they're better than the shite we already have, but when that shite is Rondon and goals are what keep you in the league then I'm in.
I think he'll be decent for us but I do hope there's another coming too.

We need a striker of his type. Do we want another big hold up striker like Calvert Lewyn? Yes as a squad player.
But we also need a plan B striker, someone who can come on and totally change the style. Maupay could be a very good signing for us.

Not impressed with this at all, never going to run away from anyone, needs too many chances before he converts, if we have lost Charlie, hard worker fast and scores, and we are about to lose Gordon, and this is their replacement, a younger Rondon, then we have gone backwards again.
We are in the final week of the transfer market, and this is pure desperation.
